11. Holy crap...
I had no idea. None. I was CLUELESS that there were that many oil rigs.
They are everywhere!!
Can they stand an assault from a Cat 4 or 5? Can they be ripped right from their anchorages and have massive leaking or are there safeguards for that?
Thanks for the info.:scared:

At least in some locations.

4. Is it misleading to characterize it as a level 5?
Looks like it'll be level 5 only when it's out in the middle of the ocean and go back down to level 4 before it reaches land.

7. Its a 4 now, supposed to be a 5 tomorrow
then a 3 or 4 when it makes landfall.

Katrina was a 3 or 4 when it made landfall (it was a 5 earlier)

This one looks like it will do a lot of damage

10. I say put Bush in front of the levees
Time of reckoning to see if he learned his lesson from Katrina. If they hold he lives, if not, hope he has a good breaststroke.

and advised friends/neighbors to do the same. I'm in the Asheville, NC area and after Katrina we had gas shortages (and higher prices). They scoffed at me last time -- they're not laughing at me this time.

(PS I'm lucky in that a tank of gas lasts me weeks -- neighbors who have to drive a lot REALLY had a hard time last time!)

9. A cat 4 or 5 right through the heart of the gulf oil patch. Yikes.

I heard earlier this week that BP was capping their wells. Hopefully other oil companies are doing the same.
