"God" is not sending a message through Gustav.
"God" didn't unleash 9/11 because our society permits abortion and is tolerant toward gays.

Ditto for Katrina.

"God" did not create Gustav to make the Republicans look bad.

"God" is not seeking justice for their sins.

Nobody should be gleeful over Gustav's landfall.

Gustav was caused by a tropical depression that expanded into a hurricane. This is a natural phenomenon, easily explained by physics, that has been occurring for millions of years. It's formation was quite possibly hastened by man's activities and the policies of the Bush administration.

There is no "god" needed to explain Gustav and to continue to claim that one is involved makes us no better than the Pat Robertson's and Jerry Falwell's of the world.

This is going to be a very, very difficult time for a lot of innocent people. Stop making them pawns in whatever your conception of "god" is.

1. Palin may disagree. Of course, she'd have to check with her husband first before doing so.

4. It was all the praying the Dobson crowd did for rain in Denver
Their prayers really worked but their geographical accuracy and timing were off just a bit.

7. Disgusting
Anyone who suggests that God would punish those people because of a convention should be publicly denounced.

11. You do know that poster isn't serious right?
I think you are looking too hard for things to be outraged about here. Be patient, they will come. No need to get all hot and bothered at sarcasm.

6. Great post....indeed. I am glad you put the part about how human's trashing
of the environment is helping to make these monsters far worse. There is plenty of news to pick/post on, Gustav is a brewing tragedy for thousands who do not deserve it.

8. You misunderstand the irony
People aren't really saying a god did that. They are making fun of the wingers that say the types of things you referenced in your post. It may be crude and insensitive, but it isn't about a vengeful cruel god teaching the republicans a lesson. Didn't the vengeful god go into hiding after the old t estimate anyway?

10. As Matthew 5:45 says"
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Perhaps these Christians ought to read the book of Job in their very own "Word of God", their guidebook, and see what it says about when bad things happen to good people.
