What is the missing piece? |
|
I can't figure it out. My Drudge-reading coworker has been talking about Dubai for months on end and how she was thinking about going to work there because of the tax-free status. Then today, we find out Halliburton is going there. Dubai is still involved in the running of some of our ports and we find out that Dubai doesn't have an extradition treaty to the US. Because of my co-worker speaking on and on endlessly about Dubai (which until today I didn't really pay any attention to)...then Drudge or Rush or SOMEONE has been talking up Dubai. The missing piece is who and what is being said. I know many DU'ers read these alternative sources to see what is going on--has anyone seen what the talk is about?

1. The 'no extradition' part |
|
is why they are moving there. The house of cards is about to crumble and they are getting out in one piece while they can.
There should be an uproar in Congress about this, but of course there won't be. They don't have the balls to do this.
Hmmmm, I bet we can all guess now what Cheney's 'secret' trip was for a few months back - - all on our tax dime too.

And I can guarantee you both are for evil purposes. I would say war, war and warmongering is the missing piece.

3. DUBAI has no rules. It's the wild west. They like MONEY. |
|
I have posted in the past about how the joint is run by seven bastards in thobes. They have the gold, they make the rules. Absolute rule. No rights for the citizenry.
If you are in with those fuckers, you have it made. They're like the damn royal family in the film, Syriana, but without as much oil.
Seven well-diversified bastards from one family, they take turns being the head honcho.
Where can you find an easier group of bastards to deal with? They're all on the same page, you don't have to worry about a change at the head of the government screwing your deals, it's a small enough bunch, well controlled by the Seven, that you don't have a massive problem of assholes everywhere wanting a piece of the action....it's a perfect place, from that perspective. You tell them what you want the law to be, they make it so.
It's also a perfect crossroads from a national security perspective. Everyone has their dick in that pot, because there are, as I said, no rules. It's Switzerland during WW2, only hotter, though equally lacking in a moral compass.
You wanna talk off line to Iran, North Korea, any pariah nation? Do it in Dubai. It's the Wild, Wild West.....

5. It's a better environment than, say, Somalia....also the wild wild west. |
|
But without any strongmen to keep things in line. And no air conditioned hotels or cars for the rich. No beautiful pools... and your ability to influence events there isn't anywhere close to Dubai. Those seven bastards are honorable businessmen, in their own way.
If you're a businessman, doing business for your uncle, Sam, there are worse places. Everything's for sale, and rules only apply to the poor and unimportant.
