Dr. Laura: " I am extremely disappointed in the choice of Sarah Palin"
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 03:25 AM by Liberal_in_LA
Dr. Laura's rightwing extremist view of things:

http://www.drlaurablog.com/

I’m stunned - couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain? I realize his advisors probably didn’t want a “mature” woman, as the Democrats keep harping on his age. But really, what kind of role model is a woman whose fifth child was recently born with a serious issue, Down Syndrome, and then goes back to the job of Governor within days of the birth?

I am haunted by the family pictures of the Palins during political photo-ops, showing the eldest daughter, now pregnant with her own child, cuddling the family’s newborn. When Mom and Dad both work full-time (no matter how many folks get involved with the children), it becomes a somewhat chaotic situation.

1. well, at least she's consistent, unlike the hordes of other Morality Cops
That's how the fundies are. They will rail nonstop about SIN, but when one of their own falls short, well, that's just more reason to love them!!

4. Frankly, I'm stunned
If I expected anyone to try to turn this fiasco into a celebration of (white) conservative decency and their undying devotion to bringing more (white) children into the world, it would be the good Dr. Laura.

The fact that she seems quite vehemently opposed to Palin is rather shocking to me.

5. This is huge.... Palin's abandonment of her spec. needs child IS atricious...
... Yet has been ignored by the right wing morality police...until now.

Maybe, just maybe, Dr. Laura is part of a trend.

7. Dr. Laura is NOT Sarah Palin's friend. From article:
"Any full-time working wife and mother knows that the family takes the short end of the stick. Marriages and the welfare of children suffer when a stressed-out mother doesn’t have time to be a woman, a wife, and a hands-on Mommy."

"Doctor" Laura may have framed the case for conservative women to vote against Palin- the man and kids should come first.

13. Why?
She is upholding her "Women should never work" schtick. It's insulting and anti-feminist.

I still despise Dr. Laura. I won't begrudge her if she can convince people from not voting for McCain and Palin, but she's still a total hosebeast.

True and True. Nothing at all to do with "woman shouldn't work." Dr. Laura worked when her child was young.

11. Why don't these neocon religionists follow their own rules?
they're supposed to stay home, make babies, bake cookies, and take care of their families and have no ambitions beyond that. I keep forgetting that rules are for everyone else, not neocons. :silly:

12. Of course, she still has to smear Obama
Her disingenuous jab "this is in sharp contrast to Obama’s statement that...I don’t want punished with a baby" without including his next line "I don't want them punished with an STD at the age of 16" shows she's still a filthy, nasty POS!

15. screw dr. laura
Her "women shouldn't work outside the home until the kids are grown" is bullshit. But still, I'm always happy to see dissension among the ranks, and I hope this scares some of her listeners away from that ticket :)

21. I can't see how anyone could make an issue out of the age of her children or when she went back
to work.

There's plenty of other personal things to attack her on but neither of those could be anything for concern.

25. No, mothers are important to babies and teens in crisis. Your focus is on the adult,
and healthy families meet the needs of the neediest as best they can. Adult's needs do NOT equal babies' needs. Is this the best this family can do with their present reality- newborn (ALWAYS stressful) and TEEN PREGNANCY....extremely stressful? Let's get real here.
