3. Minnesota has Election Day registration at the polls...
...so there practically is no deadline to register.

6. Okay... in NY state, anyway...
I know when I can demand a "provincial ballot"
-- You can demand a provisional ballot if your name is not in the polling book but you know you are in the right place to vote.

I know what to do if I am turned away from my polling place
-- You can call the elections board and find out if you're supposed to be in a different place. If you're in the right place, you can demand a provisional ballot.

I know what I am and am not permitted to do at a polling place

-- You're not supposed to campaign within 100 feet of a polling place. That includes wearing buttons and stuff! You're not supposed to take pictures of the voting machines, but some inspectors will let you take one.

If you have a problem with your polling place...

-- You can call your party officials at the elections board. They got your back.

7. Wow! Okay ...
I know what to do if I am turned away from my polling place
-- You can call the elections board and find out if you're supposed to be in a different place. If you're in the right place, you can demand a provisional ballot.

What if it's really late and they tell you you have to go to some polling place on the other side of town and there's no way you're going to make it before the polls close?

If you have a problem with your polling place...

-- You can call your party officials at the elections board. They got your back.

How do you get those numbers?

(Thank you, BTW for all this info! I know it's NY-specific, but it might be similar enough to get someone started in their own state!)
