I'm particularly upset about this subject. Everyone should be. This could be any of us.

This man is set to be executed in three weeks, folks. This is why Obama must win this election. Those other goons could care less about this stuff. It's of great importance though.

I go here to sign petitions and find out who is nearing their death sentence. Isn't this lovely?

Part of his plea-

Where is the Justice for me? In 1989 I surrendered myself to the police for crimes I knew I was innocent of in an effort to seek justice through the court system in Savannah, Georgia USA. But like so many death penalty cases, that was not my fate and I have been denied justice. During my imprisonment I have lost more than my freedom, I lost my father and my family has suffered terribly, many times being treated as less than human and even as criminals. In the past I have had lawyers who refused my input, and would not represent me in the manner that I wanted to be represented. I have had witnesses against me threatened into making false statements to seal my death sentence and witnesses who wanted to tell the truth were vilified in court.

1. I know Troy Anthony Davis's sister. I believe he is innocent.
Our church (UU) has been heavily involved in this.

2. Oh my god.
I honestly cannot imagine the suffering they've been through. It even effects you and I. UU is a great institution.

This is something so violating. And to think of the obstruction that the judicial system puts in their way.

I saw The Shawshank Redemption the other night. I had forgotten until just now.

We're pretty comfortable out here. Just imagine...

3. We're right here in Savannah.
It would be hard to NOT know her and be involved in justice issues in this town.

4. we need to get
rid of the racist death penalty. It only exists to punish African American men.

I could never support it--because of the possibility that innocents will die--and it is unfairly and unequally applied against AA males.

5. I signed the Petition....
Because I have read some of your posts and respect you, and oppose the death penalty. Your links were not the best-I need more than he denied it-I need a site that lays out all the trial issues. And then I need a direct link to a site to sign a petition...if it requires a sign up, as this one did, then please take me right to a sign up page...This time I am trusting your judgement, but in the future I'll need more direct links to spend my time if you get my drift...it took 15 minutes to decide to support your request and then I googled to find the sign in site. It sounds petty but in all of life with our republic failing you should make it as easy as possible to see the trial arguements and to do the things it takes to help you.
Regards, Cat

8. No,, I understand.
Thanks for your encouraging statements. I hurriedly put this post together.

One of the things I like about this forum is that people think. I often react instead of thinking. I am slowly learning. So I fully respect what you have to say about not blindly signing on. I happen to have subscribed to the abolitionists against execution website for a long time. I do just blindly sign on. And in a way it's because I oppose all executions.

7. Thank You Gregorian for this important post.
I am 100% against the Death Penalty. I do not know exactly what the proper justice system would look like, but I do know that most people are not perfect, and that many people have blood on their hands. I know innocent people end up in prison. I also know innocent people get executed. I think it is a great thing to try to assist the innocent from being executed. I signed the petition, and intend on sending money to the National Campaign to End the Death Penalty: www.ncadp.org

10. Eye witness testimony alone is not sufficient for the DP.
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 12:13 AM by aikoaiko
I don't know if he is innocent, but his guilt is questionable.

Liars for witnesses are fuckin evil. The people who lied and any prosecutor who supported the lies should be put in jail.
