3. Not necessarily...

If the person wearing the uniform is no longer active duty and out of the military it is okay.

Now, if they are active duty, guard or reserve...it's against UCMJ to wear their uniform at a political event.

8. Are you still permitted to wear the uniform after your OUT?
I know a number of retired officers, and they NEVER wore their uniform after they were out, but I don't know if they weren't allowed to or if they chose not to.

9. You can wear any part or all of your uniform after you're out...
I only wore my BDU jacket and combat boots after I got out and that was for outdoor activities in the cold. The rest of it was just too uncomfortable for me.

Check out protests from the 60's to today. There are plenty of Vets who have worn their uniforms.

11. Here's a related post about two Navy SEALS ...
... http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=3471042&mesg_id=3471042

I says, "There are very strict rules about active duty military personnel not attending political events or appearing to publicly support candidates."

The problem, of course, is: who are those men and are they active duty?

..........
First, they cannot participate in partisan political activities in their official military capacities. Partisan politics means any candidacy for any national or state office or a candidacy or issue associated with a political party - Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, etc.

No political activities are ever permitted when in military uniform or in any federal government facility or building, or when using government resources, such as government e-mail.

Second, they cannot openly or privately make speeches, write articles, or engage in electioneering or campaign activity associated with partisan politics.
........

I saw an Air Force Sargent in uniform and three others in uniform as well.

12. Generally (no pun intended) improper, I think,
to be in uniform at any non-work-related event.

courts marshal some guys from Vote Vets for wearing their field jackets to a rally. Then a video tape turned up with a couple of full bird Colonels at a fundamentalist promo event and they dropped the charges. Happened about eight months ago.
