Palin's pastor: Disagreeing with Bush or voting Democrat will send you to hell
This is a few days old and I just found it, but here's some little tidbits from it:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/02/palins-church-may-have-sh_n_123205.html

"During the 2004 election season, he (Ed Kalnins) praised President Bush's performance during a debate with Sen. John Kerry, then offered a not-so-subtle message about his personal candidate preferences. "I'm not going tell you who to vote for, but if you vote for this particular person (*cough*Kerry*cough*), I question your salvation. I'm sorry." Kalnins added: "If every Christian will vote righteously (*cough*Bush*cough*), it would be a landslide every time."

Months after hinting at possible damnation for Kerry supporters, Kalnins bristled at the treatment President Bush was receiving over the federal government's handling of Hurricane Katrina. "I hate criticisms towards the President," he said, "because it's like criticisms towards the pastor -- it's almost like, it's not going to get you anywhere, you know, except for hell. That's what it'll get you."

Much of his support for the current administration has come in the realm of foreign affairs. Kalnins has preached that the 9/11 attacks and the invasion of Iraq were part of a "world war" over the Christian faith, one in which Jesus Christ had called upon believers to be willing to sacrifice their lives."

Where was the "liberal media" uproar over this guy? He's at least as bad as Wright, right? (no pun intended) *Crickets chirping*

2. End Times
=========================================
He preaches repeatedly about the "end times" or "last days," an apocalyptic prophesy held by a small but vocal group of Christian leaders. During his appearance with Palin in June, he declared, "I believe Alaska is one of the refuge states in the last days, and hundreds of thousands of people are going to come to the state to seek refuge and the church has to be ready to minister to them."
=========================================

If something happens to the next president, I don't want Sarah Palin controlling our nuclear weapons. I donated $300 to Obama-Biden yesterday.

3. The IRS needs to look in to his tax-exempt status if he's such a RW spokesman.

Put that on the to-do list come January.

Don't expect anything to be done under the corrupt and evil BushCo Regime.

4. I was formulating a well thought out response because often, I'm so mad.
I was thinking about how evil it is to use people trapped in your pews to deliver a political ideology.
Telling people that they would be going to hell if they voted for John Kerry.
How American and patriotic is that?

I was planning on being thoughtful and fair and now you know what?

"PASTOR" Kalnins, FUCK YOU.

"I hate criticisms toward the President," he said, "because it's like criticisms toward the pastor -- it's almost like, it's not going to get you anywhere, you know, except for hell. That's what it'll get you." said the good "Pastor".
Here is some criticism for you, you right wing, crazed fool.
Hell isn't close to where you belong.

Have I said today, how much I HATE these people?

Given a chance, they will take us all down.

11. I'll bet the good Reverend had a different comment when other men were Presidents

"I hate criticisms towards the President," he said, "because it's like criticisms towards the pastor -- it's almost like, it's not going to get you anywhere, you know, except for hell. That's what it'll get you."

What did he say when President Clinton was criticized for Waco? When will pastors learn that they can not be political and be partisan? Eventually they will end up looking like hypocrites.

12. Hey Rocknrule he's worse than Wright! Wright never told you that
if you voted a certain way that you were going straight to hell. These wingnuts won't be happy until Putin drops a series of bombs on their asses. Kucinich was right--WAKE UP AMERICA! The world is watching. If we choose incorrectly we will be cave dwellers within a year.

13. This is what is pissing me off about Palins Pastor
The MSM is not covering this at all. This guy is anti-American and religious nut and Palin's beliefs are in line with his.

Where the fuck is the media on this. Oh that's right, it was a black Pastor that said, "Goddamned America"! Guess it's not the same as this wacko talking about voting for a specific party.

I think we can file complaints against this church. They have filed against Liberal churches for even talking about politics.

15. I don't remember the Bible telling us how to vote...
Nor can any 'mortal' tell us our salvation.

What a jerk.

Sadly, too many of these 'fundie' churches dont' expect
formal education from their so-called preachers.

All they need is a self-proclaimed anointment of the HOly Spirit.

No matter how they tend to rail and rant,
they really don't know the scripture.
They don't know how to read the ancient texts,
how to get into the mind of an individual of 2,000 years ago,
and how to fit the scripture into historical context.

Why does he differ from JEremiah Wright?
Wright has advanced degrees; he's studied other languages,
he's well traveled. If he has 'extremist' views,
he can probably give scholarly citations to shore up his opinions.

NOW, I am awaiting Sarah Palin to give a formal address about
faith and religion, just like Obama did. Apparently these things
are of such importance to her political stances.
But you ain't gonna see it.
She's an attractive white women;
most folks think that's enough to get her by her flimsy resume.

16. When did we start having to deal with crazy people on a day to day basis?
It seems like it's been forever, but I remember a distant past when people with marginal views were marginalized instead of being paraded front and center and given complete power over America's future. This unrelenting barrage of insane religious wackery is getting harder and harder for me to tolerate. I feel like a hostage in my own country!
