"She is just like me" they tell us about voters charmed by Palin |
|
If someone tells you this, ask him/her whether they, too, have a pregnant teen at home, or whether they have provided a better parental guidance.
No, we cannot shackle our sons and daughter so that they do not make mistakes, but the impression that they send, that a pregnant teen is the norm is really an insult to those of us who raised daughters who behaved responsibly.
I don't have the stats - no doubt some have - but how common is teen pregnancy these days? Especially teens raised in a middle class "traditional" family (a mother and a father married to each other)?

She wants to force your daughter to carry a rapist's baby, even if it destroys her opportunity to have other children in the future or threatens your daughter's health.
That's what we need to focus on.

Puberty hits at about 13 now. Booze hits at about the same age.
Also how many of us have had "children out of wedlock"?
No idea, but a good idea.

5. If Sorry Palin is just like them, ask if they feel that they are ready to be president. |
|
MAybe that will help them understand that we aren't electing a cheerleader; I don't want someone like myself to be president--I want smart, and yes, I want someone elite.

Of course, as with frat boy Bush in 2000, whom no one took seriously, they would figure that there will be some adult supervision but at least they will have a president in the white house who can drink beer with them (probably a main reason why Romney was out).
I may have become cynical as I am getting older, but it seems that reasons and logic and facts no longer are a factor in many voters' mind. They select the cheer leader, the one who uses the code words that they seek.

6. Who are these people?! |
|
The only similarities I have with that creature are that we are both working mothers who live in cold climates and have husbands named Todd! (My poor husband asked "why is every douchebag on the planet named Todd?). Even my most fundie relatives (my fundie friends no longer speak to me) have nothing in common with her besides some religious issues (and many of them would be shocked if they saw this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=385&topic_id=183628&mesg_id=183628 ) How can anyone be taken in by Caribou Barbie?! :wtf:

7. My question to people who are voting for the person "like me" |
|
And so you thing you should be president?
Generally, the kind of shrug and admit not.
For the few who have said yes - they'd make a great president I start peppering them with questions about what we should do about various current crises, from the home foreclosures to the new Pakistan govt (and it's impact on the search for Bin Ladin) to job creation, environmental treaties, and, of course, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
I had one guy say, well, OK, just 'cause I don't have the answers doesn't mean Sarah doesn't. I came back with, OK - what are her answers, 'cause until we know, how the heck are we supposed to take her seriously?

10. They said Bush was a regular guy |
|
you could have a beer with, now years later everyone hates him.
Why didn't they just listen to us lefty bloggers to begin with...it would have saved seven years of disastrous policies.
We are much better judges of character and we can see through right through McCain-Palin INSTANTLY, no need for years and years of more disasters.

15. Palin reminds me of my sister. |
|
And I sure as hell wouldn't want my sister running the country, either. That's why she's so damned scary! I don't want the fate of the world and the future of my country in the hands of a fundie whacko oligarch whose only demonstrable skill is lying through her teeth.
Ask those people if they feel qualified to lead the country themselves, and if not, why not? Because they're about as qualified as Palin. If that doesn't give them pause, they're daft.

|
God, they are such hypocrites.
And see where that got us with Average Student Bush.
Such idiots. It shakes one's faith in Democracy. If they get to vote and are more numerous then sensible people, what to do?
maybe just tell them voting increases their chances of getting a loathesome disease? if they believe this crap, they'll believe that.
