Vice President Cheney Will Speak At 145th Battle Of Chickamauga Anniversary

Vice President Dick Cheney will make another trip to Chickamauga Battlefield.

He is set to give opening remarks for the 145th Commemorative Battle of Chickamauga, which will be Sept. 19-21.

Vice President Cheney toured the battlefield in 2003.

He is especially interested in it since his great-grandfather, Samuel Fletcher Cheney, fought there.

Will he give a shooting exhibition?? The Union lost, but with his ancestor in the battle for Ohio

that may explain what happened. I'm trying to remember a VP who went to a Confederate victory memorial.

The Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 18 to September 20, 1863, marked the
end of a Union offensive in south-central Tennessee and northwestern Georgia called
the Chickamauga Campaign. The battle was the most significant Union defeat in the
Western Theater of the American Civil War.
