Our side always s*cks and surrenders.
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 05:51 PM by CLG_News
I was watching a reair of 'Meet the (Reichwing) Press' with GOP media troll, Tom Brokaw. The guest was Senator Joe Biden.
Needless to say: Right out of the gate, Brokaw pushed Biden on (paraphrasing) the 'rise' of Sarah Palin, her 'terrific' speech, her 'gain' with women, etc.
The obvious answer to Brokaw's loaded question? Biden - fully cognizant that that would be his first question - should have responded, "Well, Tom, why isn't Sarah Palin sitting here with you today? Moreover, why isn't the media asking why she isn't sitting in front of *any* of them?"

Instead, (Do I need to even say more?) Biden praised Palin, declaring how she is a tough politician, etc. This was the top of the show -- millions of voters watching either the live version or its subsequent reairs. Biden could have praised Palin for her political proclivities, then launched a scathing (non-personal) attack on her rightwing agenda and its hidden dangers to the nation, tying Palin to Cheney and his secretive Energy Task Force, etc. But no.

This is why we lose, folks, this is why we lose. These 'waste-of-time, roll over and surrender' scenarios pave the path for the GOP to steal key swing states -- and hence, another 'election.'

Wait until the debates, when McCain/Palin (the moderators already deep within their pocket) attack and Obama/Biden play nice, and unlikely a mention of the word 'Bush' or 'Halliburton' from either of them. Scary.

The 'election' is wrapped, save the bow.

ON EDIT: I need to make a clarification, by addition. Biden may well have done fine AFTER question one. I admit I was SO DISGUSTED with his reply to question one, I shut down the volume and posted my thoughts. However, the first question and response is critical, in any debate. Biden could have used his time, in answering that question, more effectively.

Personally, I like Joe Biden! I just want Obama and Biden to 'come out swinging' every chance they get. Biden may have done a fantastic job later in the interview, but I have seen too many of these pundit panels, where our side essentially *caves.* I just wanted to illuminate that aspect.

Later, I noticed that Brokaw led the discussion to Biden's views (as a Catholic) on abortion -- wow, there's a shocker! Another distraction from the *critical issues* to our nation, to give the rightwing an edge in the (distracting) culture wars every time the topic is raised.

1. I'm more pissed about the lack of reaction to the Freddie and Fannie circus.
Palin is a really ingeniuos diversion.

I am more dismayed "we" let the fucking Fed. just roll over for more bailouts without a cohesive plan to "reform" in any real way. Yeah, fuck it, what's a few tens of billion more in corporate welfare? By this time we're so used to it, there's no outrage anymore. :sadfrown:

Even our own people aren't very interested.

We say its the economy and issues, but watch those threads flop like wet noodles.

2. bullshit-
if you expect failure, you have no one but yourself to blame if you get what you expect.

I watched Biden, and he did fine.
IMO-

Which is no less valid than yours.

6. Holy Cow -- Joe did great. He made it clear that we don't know what she thinks
because she isn't talking.

And Brokaw made it clear that they had asked Palin to appear, but so far nothing.

13. You catch more flies with honey
Biden is so smart, he knows how to lull someone into complacency. Now is hardly the time to "attack her rightwing agenda" or to tip his hand in any possible way.

Keep smiling, keep telling the truth, pulling out the facts, pointing out the obvious, and - oh, yes, - keep smling.

When the time comes, they'll never know what hit them.

Biden is smart. Obama is smart. Their campaign is smart. That's why they've come so far.

None of this, of course, can prevent Diebold from stealing PA and winning the election.

14. We appear to surrender, because "our leaders" tie us to a tether and
swing us over their heads to threaten anyone that gets in their way, but when the other side surrenders, it's done quietly behind closed doors. We basically get sold out and they kick the lot of us to the curb when they're done using us.

15. Waahhhhhhh!!!! Another crybaby.
Its over. Yup, time to pack it in cause of one lousy teensy little poll that shows a tiny little bounce for McLame after his convention of all things. For Christsakes, even Rasmussen is showing its tied. Get over it already and start doing something useful with yourself like canvassing or something.

16. I am not talking about any polls. I am talking about how the....
rightwing media gives the edge to the GOP at nearly every turn (save with Olbermann, Maddow and a few others) and the Democrats should NOT fall for it.

21. Like Biden has EVER fallen for that crap.
This is the same guy we are talking about, the one who essentially summed up Guliani as a noun, a verb, and 9/11. Biden is a very smart and clever opponent and while he may not attack personally he will attack and not let it go.

17. It's called "disarming" your opponent.
If he had come out as confrontational from the beginning, he wouldn't have been able to make some of the great points he made later.

Biden did GREAT!

23. there is too much niceness
If our people publicly respect McCain and Palin and their people don't publicly respect Obama and Biden what are undecided people supposed to think? And when they cannot see the double standard that the media plays hardball with Democrats and softball with Republicans, again, what are they gonna think? Maybe that only matters to 10% of the voters, but it's enough to tip an election.

24. I agree; well said. I won't forget the insane ABC debate whereupon....
forty-five minutes was used to bash the Democratic candidates so that they could not discuss the issues.
That's why GOP whore Charlie Gibson secured the Sarah Palin 'interview' (blow job).
