Happy Patriot Day, everyone |
|
That's what my calendar says today is, Patriot Day. The title for my OP is tongue-in-cheek, but I'm sure that within 10 years, this will be a federal holiday, and car dealers will be hawking their "Patriot Day Sales Events". To me, it's just part of the right-wing takeover of the country, reminding us all to be good little patriots on the day that BushCO LIHOP the worst terrorist attack in history so that they could use it as a pretext for their fascist plans. 9/11 gave us Afghanistan, Iraq, Homeland Security, TSA, domestic spying, waterboarding, Gitmo, and a whole host of other rethug delights.

12. I thought it was April 18th. |
|
Listen my children, and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere...
...months before his legendary midnight ride of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere made another ride-to New Hampshire...
April 19th was the battle of Lexington and Concord. Which one is Patriot's Day?
Thanks in advance. (Either way, 9/11 is not it.)

people will be telling each other , "Happy 911!" as they grill hamburgers and take the day off, now a national holiday (bear with me, this is in the future). People will send each other Happy 911 cards and have no idea the original meaning or intent of the phrase 911.
Just wait. It will happen.

10. Indeed, my kid's high school wants them to wear red, white, and blue |
|
today as part of Homecoming week. I just asked my daughter, as she was dressing for the day, what she was wearing. Answer: BLACK! (That's my girl!) This is NOT what that stupid calendar says it is, as you are obviously saying, and when this insane administration is out, I will personally campaign against this day as anything other than a day of mourning and remembrance. (Part of MY remembrance will be LIHOP--and I will teach it to any grandchildren to come.

So 9/11 is Patriot Day? I thought that was a day they celebrate in Massachusetts. What in the world?
