Today is 9/11, but I feel the RNC has hijacked it... |
|
Like people who claim terrorists/extremist hijacked their religion. I feel the Republicans have hijacked the meaning of 9/11 and I now associate it with security theater and excuses to promote an agenda. What once seemed like a common threat seems like a campaign video shown to RNC crowds chanting USA. The biggest disconnect is that most tragedies have an underlying cause. Like a sick patient, finding that underlying cause and addressing it, rather than treating the symptoms is what is important. That never happened with 9/11. I don't think we are any more self aware or have made any more progress in this regard.
What is worse is that out of the tragedy of 9/11 and all those innocents who lost their lives, their death was for nothing. We have not learned or changed or addressed the issues. Their deaths have become a way for politicians to wear their patriotism on their lapel.
9/11 families - I am both sorry for the senseless loss and sorry that things have not changed. Some may think I am being insensitive to say your loss was for nothing, but I think many times loss makes no sense and is for nothing. I just wished the loss would have galvanized an opportunity to fix the root causes of the problems that causes 9/11 to happen in the first place. I dont think that has happened and I think we are actually worse off now.
K&R if you feel the same.

1. I've grown so tired of the commercilization of 9/11 that I don't even pay attention to it any longer |
|
That's what the GOP has taken away from me on this day. I can't even think about the tragedy without thinking about how, if the GOP could, they would make 9/11 an official GOP trademark (good on KO).

5. Oh, so YOU want to hijack 9/11, got it. BTW, it's a public forum. |
|
The most unbelievable conspiracy theory is that a bunch of rabble with box cutters and little training were able to avoid the most formidable air defense system ever built and fly heavy airliners in extreme aerobatic maneuvers striking buildings at the precise point in their structure that caused them to freefall neatly into their footprints.

6. I thought you kooks had your own forum to discuss that... |
|
I didn't say it wasn't a public forum, I just politely requested that people who agreed with my post please K&R (apparently none do or you scared them off). Instead you hijacked the thread with conspiracy garbage. Oh well.

7. The garbage is the willful ignorance about 9/11. |
|
That willful ignorance is complicit in allowing the serial criminality that proceeded from that date and continues now.
9/11 was a republic party psyop that continues today.

4. I was just going to agree with the OP |
|
and then your post reminded me of the probable reality of the event. This day is more than a day of mourning the loss of 3000+ lives; for me, it's reminder of the feeling of being "had" in a big way by my own country's government.
