from AmericaBlog: http://www.americablog.com/2008/09/is-washington-post-hiding-major.html

John Mccain abused his power to keep it a.... secret, perhaps? This isn't a story about the wife, it's a story about the Senator possibly using his office to obstruct justice for personal gain. Sounds a lot like Troopergate in fact. Definitely a story . . .

So why did the Washington Post seemingly pull a very damning story about John McCain? Did the McCain campaign threaten not to invite them to any more barbeques?

1. This is EXACTLY the way this blatant censorship should be framed.

2. Honestly, the "what are you hiding" approach may be better than the story itself.

6. It could force them to report what they know, whatever the conclusion
. . . if we ask this loudly and often enough

4. No, no, no!
You mustn't mention this story on DU. The Democratic Propriety Police will get all in a kerfluffle and perhaps have an attack of the vapours and have to take to the fainting couch. This story is BENEATH us. Or so it is said. :eyes:

7. It's possible that the Wapo...
decided to delay the story until after 9/11...or maybe even after the weekend.

Possibly, they have new information or they're talking to other sources.

Could be lots of things. We don't need to go conspiratorial just yet.

I'm not saying this story will be a big kaboom on the McCain camp. However,
it will be newsworthy and we just have to wait a few days before this all
shakes out.

13. McGoons may have had wind of the story from here...
and were surveilling WaPo with refreshes every 5 seconds, then the phone call went out and zap!
that would explain the post and immediate teardown.

McGoons pretty well couldn't threaten them before the story went up.... WaPo could say: What story?
so they had to wait for a publish, then bam!

9. Who is the Washington Post afraid of?
surely not John McCain, so who is really behind John McCain?

10. WaPo and the MSM don't give a damn about this story because
it's 14 years old. I mean, it's not important like Whitewater or anything like that........

:sarcasm:

12. sure, it's not like they've been publishing stories which have been in the Illinois press for years
. . . and making hay of them as if they're new.

It's not like they've already done that . . .is it?
