Wolf Blitzer asking the question: Why Michelle Obama not at ground zero?

Cindy was there at ground zero today. Where was Michelle? This just 2 minutes after Suzanne Malveaux already mentioned that Michelle was in Chicago with their 2 daughters who both have school this week. By raising the same question again, Blitzer is trying to make it into some kind of issue ...

And what came to mind was it was nice to see the civility between Obama and McCain, even if it's just that brief walk and rope line. They were joking with each other and it was just nice to have a break from the negativity.

But then what I realized was Obama standing beside McCain really shines the spotlight on McCain's age. You've got one guy running who looks healthy and active, and then you have this other guy who looks like the old guy at your family reunion who everyone walks up to asking if he needs something. At risk of sounding like an asshole, McCain looked like he needed a walker and looked positively decrepit next to Obama. Maybe it's his arm injury but McCain looks older than my grandfather did, and my grandfather was 82 when he passed.

I think the age focus will play itself out when the two are on stage debating. It's hard to miss and it's a painful reminder that McCain has a very high probability of not living through his first term.

Wolf Blitzer asking Michelle Obama why she wasn't at Ground Zero today was either monumentally stupid or it was calculated as a free adverstisement for the McCain campaign -- to imply that her not being there was somehow unpatriotic. He knows damn well that she is at home with her kids today. A question like that has no place at all on a professional news show. He ought to be ashamed of himself, and CNN ought to be ashamed of themselves for tolerating that.

I'm very disappointed with Mr. Blitzer trying to make something out of Michelle Obama's absence at the WTC memorial today. It had already been stated by Ms. Malveaux that Michelle Obama was taking care of her daughters who just returned to school.

The question was foolish and singling out Michelle Obama when the answer had already been given made CNN look like they were attempting to paint Michelle Obama in an unfavorable light - as if to imply that her not being there made her unpatriotic.

Your election/candidate coverage has become increasingly disappointing.
