"I looked at Bernie and said Thank God George Bush is the president"
you know i think that statement of his whether true or just some fake anecdote to gin up support among the lunatics is very telling. Now i don't know what your first utterance was upon seeing or hearing the planes hit the tower but i know mine sure wasn't about Bush. My first thoughts were disbelief or maybe denial and then some panic and then a lot of tears. I find Guiliani's response concerning.

2. and now he's stuck with it so he gets hoisted by his own petard.
i remember hearing him say that at the convention and my husband happened to be home watching it with me and he was horrified, "WTF is he serious?"

7. Those Were The First Words Out Of Mine!!!
I was in class at the Community College when it all happened. I get out of class, check my voice mail and there's one from my Mom telling me she spoke w/my sister (sis lives in DC) and she's fine. Nothing else. I get in my car, start driving and Peter Jennings is talking about "now just the one tower of the World Trade Center."

So, I pull over, call my husband and say, "What the F*** is going on!?"

12. We were still in bed here in mountain time
We're retired, too. I turned on the radio and listened using a little ear plug so as not to wake the husband. Both planes had hit by then. My first words were the same - :wtf:

8. WHY?
Because BERNIE was doing Judith Regan and HOW hot was she?
I hope I can get a shot at that apartment that was reserved for our first responders, because BERNIE was pulling some serious tail in that box!

Are these people scum or what?

BUT, Falwell and the religious right loves him so it's ALL ok.

9. What an ass kisser! You'd think he'd be embarassed to display
his brown nose so prominently!

Where is this man's dignity? Where is his personal pride?

Disgusting.

10. That remark will go down in history
Along with 'Peace in our time' and 'Dewey Defeats Truman'.

My only counter is, "Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"

13. that last line is the one, people are throwing themselves out of tower 2
because of the heat from the fire and Rudy is thinking about George Bush who is now sitting in a classroom in Florida looking at picture books.

16. No, by that time, Bush was quivering in a Nebraska bunker
Desperately trying to contact Dick to tell him what to do next.

17. But the problem is,
it worked. 51% of America fell for it and we re-elected the poorest excuse of a president we have ever had.

19. another thing while we're on it and Bush never had to answer for this==remember
he said he stayed seated so as not to worry "The children" right, but later on in that same classroom in front of the same "Children" and he made a statement about NYC being attacked by terrorists. Did those kids all grow up in those 7 minutes so Bush thought they could handle hearing about it?

20. Oh sure.
My husband and I both said almost simultaneously when we learned about it, "This would never have happened if we had anyone other than Bush as President." I can't imagine anyone with a brain thinking otherwise.

21. Really? Because the first thing I thought was...
.."Oh, Jesus! Bush and his crew are going to exploit this like nothing I've seen in my lifetime. The nation as we've known it may cease to exist."

Every fear I had, every dread and suspicion came to pass in the following years. The fallout was all very easy to see coming and anyone who didn't just wasn't paying attention.

23. Well, as cynical as it makes me...
...I admit the tactics and goals of ShrubCo Inc.® were literally the very first thought I had. I didn't have to see or hear anything else to know what the administration would do, THAT'S how transparent they are.

When Ghouliani pulled his Alexander Haig act, I was repulsed but no less surprised.
