Don't you wish you had more than 1/2 a day, once a year to vote? |
|
I've always thought that the voting system should modernize to fit American's schedules, give us MORE TIME TO VOTE. Instead of just 12 hours on Nov. 2nd, we should have A WHOLE MONTH to vote, or something like that. Many people can't vote because of the tiny, tiny window of opportunity.
What other bright ideas do you have to streamline and modernize the voting besides preventing cheating?

This country is afraid to give it's workers too many national holidays. It's stupid. I think busineses can afford to close one day every four years so everyone can vote, and have a fall bbq.

3. There's also early voting |
|
in a lot of paces. Up to a month before election day. You can go to a central location on the weekend when you have more time. I've done that the past couple of times and it's a pleasure. If you go early or later, no line.
You can also get a mail in ballot.
I also agree that ELection Day should be a national holiday.

There should be no impediment to the exercise of our right to vote.

Many people say there should be more voter participation. Most people are not interested and are uninformed. We do not want the Paris Hiltons of the world to vote.
If you care enough you should vote.
(Although, to be fair I am in favor of removing the franchise from large swaths of the American people. For example I don't think Floridians should be allowed to vote - they have proven they can't do it right or well.)

6. Whilst we in NC are blessed with about 4 weeks of early voting... |
|
... in some countries it is actually required by law that you vote.
So how about it... a national holiday with a catch: you got to go to a voting booth or else get fined. Now you don't actually have to vote once you get to the voting booth if you don't want to... just got to turn up.
Mark.

and poll workers in decorated cars waiving to the crowds after they submit their final tallies..
It should last AT LEAST a whole weekend..

10. In Illinois we get a month to vote |
|
Actually this year voting starts Oct. 13. It is more convenient in the city (in most of the big libraries) but I think each county has at least one.
