Talk about weird weather: an upside down rainbow.

6. What kind of rainbow one sees depends on where you view from.

Viewing from a low elevation will reveal only the top part. From a summer north polar perspective the whole circle might have been shown except that the refracting medium, the water droplets, only extended high enough to reflect the lower portion. One memorable experience was flying west of of a hazy Mt. Rainier into Seattle near sundown and seeing the full circular rainbow (and the secondary surrounding one) around the shadow of the plane itself.

8. we were driving to my mom's funeral

and there was a rainbow which stretched for as far as we could see with a large strip of it, in all of the hues, falling directly across the highway. It actually was showing up on our laps. We could see folks looking at it, amazed, and others had pulled over to look at it.
