Wow! Gonzo literally turned and fled.
When he realized the questions were going to keep coming, he interrupted the reporters in mid-sentence, said \"Thank you very much,\" and ran from the room. Gutless, cowardly, criminal!

Maybe he'll buy a plot
from bush on his Paraguayan property. Gonzo can be the gamekeeper until the rest of the criminals arrive.

3. Based on the comments I've read about gonzo's performance
today, no doubt he will be described by the right wing noise machine as brilliant, on message, tough, a true patriot standing proudly up to the assault of the evil liberal media.

Today he looked like someone just walked over his grave.

32. Gonzales had no problem walking over other people's graves
he was heavily involved in the SCI cover up (Funeralgate) back in the "glory days of the BFEE." Starting as bu$h*s gubernatorial counsel, he has had years of lying experience.

6. On Olbermann, Finemann said maybe he's worried about Perjury (a la Libby).
If it wasn't Finemann who said that, maybe it was another pundit, but it was clear that Gonzalez may have problems that aren't dissimilar to Libby's (lying, obstructing).

were able to attend those press conferences and ask the really uncomfortable, to the point questions that are NEVER asked due to some sort of press (give the liars a pass...AGAIN) etiquette.

Pajamas Media, that is. They seem to have access into everything. Uh...easy access. Well lubed, you might say.

12. He had the look of someone who's been visited by
Cheney's goons and knew that if he didn't personally make this thing go away, he's going down in short order and it won't be pretty. It was fun to watch.

21. He was sweating and twitching and panicked.....In contrast to his
usual smirk and condescending demeanor. He looked like he'd put on weight and his skin was an unhealthy color. Maybe he didn't have time to put on his makeup for the appearance and the lighting wasn't favorable...but still...he looked realllllly bad. GUILTY...GUILTY!

14. What Kevin Drum live blogged
AG PRESS CONFERENCE SUMMARY....Shorter Alberto Gonzales: I take total responsibility for Purgegate, but none of it was really my fault.

UPDATE: What? That was it? He evaded three or four questions and then just turned on his heels and walked out?

Gonzales is toast. If that's the best he could do after having plenty of time to figure out what to say, he's a goner

my thoughts exactly

18. And this time swear him in
Remember how offended Snarlin' Arlen was when some of the Democrats on his Judiciary Committee said that Mr. Gonzales should be sworn in before chatting with the Committee? Sen. Specter was fit to be tied, the implication that the Attorney General of the United States, an office that has seen the likes of John Mitchell, er, Ed Meese, uh, John Ashcroft, well . . . it was just offensive!

I wonder if Sen. Specter is re-thinking that now? I really think the Democrats sweeping to power in November caught them all more than a little short.

22. LINK on C-Span's front page now (9:15)
http://www.c-span.org/

The part at the beginning about outlining his "core beliefs" was right out of Public Speaking 101. I sure am glad that he likes the Constitution ...or at least says he does...now

The part at the end was funny. I was watching the time and the second to last question began with "With all due respect..." and then she just laid him out calling him on pretty much everything he had just said. Gonzo dodges then goes to the other side of the room (101) then just leaves.

It would be funny if it weren't so sad.

31. Thanks for the link
I have been away (surgery) and got on the computer and didn't understand what was going on with the post. Things are happening way too fast almost to keep up and I am so excited! Shit runs downhill just like everything else. My husband and I talk every evening about the days events and it just keeps getting better and better. Keith Olbermann should be interesting this evening. I wonder if he'll mention the press conference. I hope so. He will frame it well, I'm sure.

27. Heh. He's realized that throwing his chief of staff under the bus won't save his ass.
He'll probably have to resign, he'll have to answer some really uncomfortable questions from Congress, and he may face perjury charges.

Serves the Constitution-hating Nazi motherfucker right.

After mentioning how many people are under his control, "thousands" and his apology and that the Pres. has his rights to hire and fire those Attys., that was it. He set everyone straight and he doesn't need to expain himself further!!!! PNAC in action.
