A Sanford jury Thursday convicted a 33-year-old woman of having sex with a 5-year-old boy. Kelly Lumadue was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Jurors on Tuesday watched videotape of the sex acts, which happened 12 years ago when Lumadue lived in Longwood with her husband, a professional pornographer who recorded the session. He has since died. Kelly Lumadue testified this week that she performed those sex acts under duress from her husband. She wasn't arrested until 2003, seven years after the recordings were made, when a garbage collector found the tapes at the curb outside Lumadue's Volusia County home. They were among videotapes she had thrown out. It was Lumadue's second trial on the charges. A jury last year found her guilty, but a judge ordered a new trial.

28. I don't know all the details, but here are my thoughts.

When a person victimizes a young child for sexual gratification it is an illness.

Often there are more victims then just the one they are charged with.

As of right now there is no cure for that illness.

Do I think it is the same as premeditated murder? No. They are apples and oranges. But often the results of the child rape are far more damaging to everyone involved. Victims often become victimizers. It just keeps going and going.

If I were in charge I would let out all the pot related "criminals" and replace them with those who get off on using toddlers are sex toys.

The woman did not have sex 'with' the child - the child was molested by the woman. To state otherwise diminishes the crime. The child is a victim who will carry this for a lifetime.
As others have said here, the little boy has a life sentence, she should have one as well.

If she'd been forced ONE TIME to have sex on tape with the boy, went to the police and told them that her husband was forcing her to do this.. she wouldn't be in this situation.

The fact is she was complicant, and has ruined a totally innocent 5 year old boy as well. Sexual Predators who have been proven guilty (and video is pretty damn good proof) deserve what they get.

I'm not saying that currupt CEO's shouldn't get punished - but I'm just saying that NOT punishing this woman as harshly just because we don't have strong punishment all the way around isn't my answer.

I hope she get some help in prison.. but she could have walked away. Everyone makes choices in life - and this lady made hers. It's only too bad that the husband isn't still alive so he can sit in a cell across the prison from her as well.

33. I don't know anything about this case. Our justice system is imperfect, but

she had two trials. She was convicted twice. A judge overturned that decision and she got another trial and was found guilty again. I'm going to have to assume that the jury was appalled by what they saw. I don't blame them. I have no sympathy for her.

Are there others who deserve the same sentence and don't get it? Yes. Are there people who are wrongly convicted or wrongly sentenced? Yes. Is this case a miscarriage of justice? I have no idea. I wasn't on the jury and didn't follow the case.
