What the PBS poll proves (re: Palin's qualifications for VP) |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 11:38 AM by not_this_time
is that we cannot trust ANY polls in this country.
Especially the ones that show Obama and McCain are head to head.
The freepers (and the right wing Baghdad Bobs) killed their goose that laid the golden egg.

6. The presidential poll should be 70-30 |
|
There were 2-1/2 Dem voters for every Repulsican voter in the primary.
The polls are lying to us if they want us to believe it is head to head. This is extremely important to them.
Try to find on the internet ANYWHERE how many TOTAL popular votes there were in the primary - broken down by party.

8. These. Are. Not. Polls. |
|
Jesus fuck. I SHOULD give up, but this just gets up my nose. Is it not obvious that an online pseudo-poll that can be either freeped or DU'ed by definition doesn't measure anything -- and that they have absolutely no relation to real polls with sampling, like Pew, Gallup, etc.? Not that the latter are perfect or by any means always reliable, but they're utterly different beasts. They're not the same species as this PBS "poll" or any of the hundreds of similar ones you can find on websites.
Every time someone opens up a topic here to exhort people to "DU" a poll, they're encouraging people to waste their time. Nobody, but nobody, pays attention to these online toys except the DUers and freepers who flock to them. If you find the competition fun, have at it, but please basta with the premise that there's anything meaningful about it.

10. And what gets up my nose |
|
is people who call Gallup, etc. 'real' polls.
My point is that we have no one to trust but ourselves. Gallup is no more reliable than an online poll.

You're equating an online completely unscientific poll with real polling. That's as ridiculous as it gets.

16. Your conclusion is correct |
|
The basis for it is not.
PBS has an online poll. Online polls are unscientific and unreliable. Therefore all polls of any kind are unscientific and unreliable.
Logical fallacy.

An online poll is meaningless. Real polls have their limitations, but within those limits are usually fairly reliable.
