Be ticked off - but get over it
Or so says a pundit at CNN
http://money.cnn.com/2008/09/22/markets/thebuzz/?postversion=2008092211

The article says it is okay if you want to throw a hissy fit over handing banks your money, but move on. Get over it. Just realize it has to be done and STFU.

Why does it have to be done? Jobs, they say. There will be a loss of your jobs if these banks are not given billions of your money.

Secondly, a credit freeze. You will no longer be able to shop till you drop nor buy McMansions.

Then they close with the standard, but hey the Feds may make a bundle on this deal. Yeah right. If there was even a scintilla of a chance to make money on the deal, the banks would never let it go.

So there. You see. It has to be done, for your own good.

Therefore CNN is saying, get over it. You have permission to be a bit miffed but then just let it go.

I expect garbage such as this will be pushed at us over the next few days from our propaganda mill.

2. On one hand, I agree -- we can let them know how we feel now, do what we
can to influence the vote, but once it's done we have to accept it's a done deal. All of our dismay and anger will not un-do it.

I'm not sure what the next step will be after this is implemented, but we can't waste out time raging about how it should have been, we'll have to figure out to do what we can to make the best of a bad situation, and do what we can to ensure this can never, never happen again.

Being pragmatic - totally a different part of me than the part that is truly enraged. :grr:

3. I will probably be dead by then, but mark my words.. in 2030
there will be another "meltdown"

It "happens" with regularity....

Fatcats get complacent..they get greedy..they rob us blind
government bails them out..

rinse & repeat

5. It happens with regularity because that's what it is designed to do.
There is far more profit in chaos.

4. Have you at least called your congresscritters
to let them know you do not want this bailout?

Being pragmatic is okay if you at least tried to do something to change it. But sitting back, doing nothing and telling people to get over it and deal is being a doormat.

7. I've phoned AND e-mailed my Congressman, plus the others from
my State, PLUS Jim McDermott (from Washington State - he used to be my Congressman), plus Wexler, and Kucinich because I trust them so much. And I haven't stopped yet.

I call AND e-mail so I have an e-mail record of contacting them.

Have you called yours?

So I "at least am trying to do something to change it." And I am not "sitting back, doing nothing and telling people to get over it."

I'm always very vocal. For example, I called all 100 Senators regarding the FISA vote.

But thanks for taking my inventory.

6. No it doesn't. Why, just b/c Paulson says so?
There's more than one way to accomplish anything.

These people like the one on CNN who just parrot what they're told, like it's written in stone...

10. that guy is your typical GOP talking head
He's wrong. He doesn't even remember the last bust cycle and therefore lacks the actual knowledge to understand why his statements are wrong. The END is not near. If AIG goes bust, it will be messy, but that's what we do with companies that prove they are incompetent. We allow them to fail, and their good assets will be bought by others.

Those who were foolish enough to invest in these banks, investment companies, and insurers will lose their investment, as it should be. We should not save them. Are they offering to cover any of your bad investments?

11. I'm not mad anymore... I just want to get even!
I know most Murikans won't go the baracades no matter how bad they're being fucked, but, other than donating money, working in the Dem campaigns, and voting, how can I strike back.

I pay off my credit card each month, so I can't just boycott credit buying.

What evil things can we do to fuck life up for "them"?
