Web exclusive: Ozinga, Wallace back out of candidate forum claiming bias

09/25/2008, 7:15 am

The Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce has canceled an 11th Congressional District candidates' forum for Thursday morning after Republican candidate Martin Ozinga III and Green Party candidate Jason Wallace withdrew.

After fighting to be included, Wallace joined Ozinga today to issue a joint statement stating they wouldn't participate because they believe the chamber event at Governors State University was being slanted in favor of the Democratic candidate, state Sen. Debbie Halvorson, D-Crete.

The chamber is "deeply disappointed," President and CEO Lisa Ziegler said.

The accusations are false, she said. "We're not sure exactly why he (Ozinga) decided to do this and make these accusations. It really was our intention and Governors State's intention to provide an educational forum for the voters. People were looking forward to hearing what a fellow businessman (Ozinga) had in mind in serving in Congress."

1. Wallace was originally going to be left out, so he was pissed off from the very start.
I can only guess Ozinga is using that as a cover to avoid an uncomfortable examination of his policies.

3. Wallace fought to be included and then he and the Rethug pulled out together
I know Ozinga. He is a true thug.

That the Green candidate is trying to help him says a lot doesn't it?
