A Book if you suffer from PTSD or a Family Member Suffers from it a must read

Look I do not push books. Ilona is a friend and a sister to me she was there for me when my wife died. She wrote this because her sister suffered from PTSD and took her own life. The Book is called Moving a Nation to Care: by Ilona Meagher. This Book give you how and what to do and details every thing you need to know about PTSD.

When we came home about 13 percent suffered now these kids. The VA claims its only 24 percent the numbers are more like 42 percent

war is hell. It always has been, always will be. Support at home (VA) is minimal. Damn.

12. I have had PTSD for most of my life,

but it is nothing compared to what the people who go to war must have. I remember the neighbor man who came home from WWII with shell shock. I remember when the guys came home from Vietnam and the stories they and their families told about their ordeals. This war will be no different.

13. I am a Vietnam vet with PTSD not bad but it does kick in

I have to not watch allot of the news on Iraq flash backs. When My Brother Vet Doc Randy Barnes died it hit. But when My Wife died it got real bad. The Lady who wrote this book called emailed and came to my side.

It is hard to get through those times with no one to support you. I have never been lucky enough to have someone that would stand by me in those times.

I know mine is light compared to what you must have. Mine is mostly when I feel trapped or threatened. I was diagnosised as having it from my marriage compounded by a work experience, but I honestly think it started from my childhood. I still have flashbacks of my mother beating me, and that was a long long time ago.

Family members need to learn all they can about this disorder. Any book that helps with that is a step in the right direction. The author sounds like an awesome lady.

Since so many of our vets are returning with injuries (physical and mental) compared to other wars in which more soldiers were killed, then more and more of our vets will be encountering PTSD due to the fact that there are more survivors.
