Let's Get Something Straight: This is the Bush Bailout Bill |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 06:49 PM by louis c
I'll say it again. This is the Bush bailout bill.
His Administration officials have sited any lack of action on the bailout bill as bringing about an economic "meltdown". It's the Bush SEC that was asleep at the switch. It's the Bush treasury Secretary that is requesting 700 billion taxpayer dollars to save Wall Street, and hence, the economy.
All the Democrats in congress are doing is acting responsibly. If there is any mistake being made by the Dems, it's that they have refused to point the finger of blame exactly where it belongs, at the Bush White House and the Republicans in Congress who supported the philosophy of deregulation for the 6 years they ran the government (2001-2007).
It was the Repukes that wanted to cut taxes on capital gains for these thieves. It was the Repukes who were the "cops on the beat" that looked the other way while the crooks pulled every trick in the book to fill their greedy pockets. It was the Bush Justice Department that failed to investigate or prosecute the crooks. Now, as a meltdown seems inevitable, they're asking the very people they have attacked as unpatriotic Socialists for the last 14 years to pull the Repuke's chestnuts out of the fire. Kudlow, Limbaugh and the rest of the assholes that cheer lead for the scumbag Repukes are trying to make this seem like this is a Democratic bill. It's not.
If it was me at these meetings, I would tell Paulson to tell Bush that I said he can go fuck himself, and take KKKarl Rove with him. I would say, get your Repukes in line with a bill, all of them, evey fucking one, then get back to me and we'll talk. I would also demand that Bush make a public apology for having fucked up this economy before I would even talk to him. Assholes.

Pistols and assault weapons have recently been made legal in DC. So if you say this shit to Cheney just make sure you have a bullet-proof vest.

4. Does anyone know of a concise, easy to understand (yeah, I know) |
|
essay or editorial that explains why we are in the mess we are in truthfully? I saw a video link posted here that lays the entire blame of what went down squarely on the Dems who voted for the mess we're now facing, including Barney Frank and Obama. I know it can't be quite like that.
Also, is the correct consensus that we shouldn't bail out Wall street or that we should bail out wall street--and why.
I'm trying to understand all of this.
Thanks to anyone who can answer this and point me in the right direction.

6. I don't think we should bail out Wall Street. |

What good can possibly come of it? I'm having a hard time understanding it too and wish someone could put it in laymens terms. I mean, what entities are getting OUR money, and exactly why are they getting it? $700 Billion is more money than the average Joe can comprehend. Is this going to devalue the dollar even more? My 401K is already going backwards. Will this make it worse?
OT - SemperEadam, are you one of those x-Gyrenes too?

Those mortgages would be paid now. Here's an indisputable fact, for the last 28 years, the Repukes have controlled at least one branch of government (Executive or Legislative) for all but 2 of them. From Jan. 2001 to Jan. 2007 they controlled the ENTIRE Government. Whatever the Dems did that the Repukes did not agree with, they had six years to repeal or amend. Rarely does a political party hold that kind of dominance over such a long period of time. The last time the Repukes held that kind of control of the U.S. Government was 1921-1929. We all know how that turned out, don't we.
On the other hand, the Dems dominance was from 1932 to 1946. There was no period in which working people made greater advances in economic justice than that 14 year period. Just look at the facts.
