That was on the same day the LA Times reported the investigation had spread into Congressman Jerry Lewis, which is alleged to be "the real problem". This is very important because it shows the intent of these folks to interfere in an ongoing investigation, and more particularly, not just any ongoing investigation, but one of Republicans.

The original PDF may be obtained at the House Judiciary Committee's website:
http://judiciary.house.gov/media/pdfs/DOJdocsPt1070313.pdf
(The above link is the PDF.) You will find the e-mail on page 22.

This sort of sounds like the Saturday Night Massacre, only this time it was on a Thursday.

17. I read thru the documents on the Judiciary Committee websight..
http://judiciary.house.gov/

There are several redactions in the emails. I assume that was done by the Committee, not the White House. From looking at the context, it appears that they removed the names of US Attorneys (and perhaps others) who were not ultimately fired. i.e. There were lists of proposed terminations in some of the emails and the only names that remained were those of the prosecutors who testified.

19. Nixon's Articles of Impeachment included obstruction of justice...
and abusing the CIA. Bush's phony WMDs and OSP abuse of the legit CIA channels go without saying. This current obstruction of justice is now icing on the cake.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

20. Wow, it is really falling into place
These prosecutors have really been under their skin for a while. The memo is from May 2006, apparently the strategy then was to wait to the end of their 4-year term and then replace them. Problem was, the home state Senators got to pick them. So they schemed and planned ways to circumvent that. They settled on a plan to change the Patriot Act to put their own lackeys in. That provision was part and parcel of the whole affair. No one had pulled this particular ruse before, so they were certain it would not be noticed until too late. This administration does that a lot, you know. This is too much to be done by mid-level people. There had to be a central coordinating entity. Someone with the ear of both DoJ and Arlen Specter's office. Wonder who that could be? Karl Rove, the onceler, is my guess too.

22. K&R: So, if any of the DOJ officials,
who will soon be getting to sworn in to testify, verify that there was a political connection to Lam's firing, in effect an attempt to obstruct justice imo, there will be unimpeachable grounds for demanding everyone in the administration, including Gonzalez, who sounded off on Lam's firing be called forth to provide sworn testimony. That's my take anyways.
