Photos (9) from the "Hold Palin Accountable" Rally
in Anchorage today. For a wonderful explanation of why this rally had to occur, please read Mudflats' great account: "Once Upon a Time in Anchorage: The Story of a Rally." http://www.themudflats.net/2008/09/27/once-upon-a-time-in-anchoragethe-story-of-a-rally/ All these signs will make so much more sense if you know all the players.

As a very proud Alaskan, I feel it's my civic duty to show you, and the world, that we Alaskans are not all in love with our governor. Maybe she had us fooled for a bit, but I think her days as the most popular governor in the country are O V E R. We have been as shocked as everyone else by the things that have been revealed since August 29. The stonewalling on the investigation, after she assured us she would cooperate fully, is just completely unacceptable. We don't like being lied to -- and we REALLY don't like Outsiders coming in here and trying to take over our state, as McCain's goon, O'Callaghan, has done. (Sorry for the provincialism, but that's just the way it is. )

After a dreary, rainy summer, the weather today couldn't have been better. As noon approached, people with their signs started showing up on the sidewalk.

Sharing a photo op

McCain's people, O'Callaghan (who came to us from his prior position in the Justice Department where he handled terrorism cases - yeah, Alaskans are terrorists) and Meg Stapleton (traitor) call themselves the "Palin Truth Squad." Seriously. This is more like it.

Apparently Pastor Muthee's exhortations didn't work. Looks like the Devil's got her now.

No caption needed.

Registering people to vote and making signs.

Signing petitions asking for Attorney General Talis Colberg's resignation

A gathering crowd of disgruntled citizens

I love all the pictures I took today. It's just wonderful to see so many people waking up and getting involved. Sarah's a Uniter. :) I'll be posting a little photoblog at my SmugMug site as soon as I get these all edited.

HURRAAAAAAY!

Hey I heard Mooselini would be here in L.A. county in Oct., maybe we can work up a "welcome" here with some of the same great signs. YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE!

7. My time in Alaska was confined to six months on an Aleutian rock,
but I've always thought of Alaskans as being much like the rest of us in the the northwest. It's great to see that a large number are independent thinkers and not possessed by the "Beauty Queens for Jesus and John McCain" cult.

"Palin Truth Slayer." Wow!!! Nobody can say it better than the Alaskans. Thanks very much for posting.

Nice turnout, and great signs. I really liked the signing shots, but my favorite is the Murthee/doberman's bitch sign. WTF?

Hey, where's the picture of Hull Boss with a sign? :)

15. Ah, looking as handsome as ever.
But very different with the furry face than when I last saw him. :D

And of your the other photos... LOVE the Nixon and Palin masks. Perfect! And "I'm confused. Wouldn't Jesus tell the truth?"

19. Is there any chance to turn Alaska blue in the GE?
I'm wondering if there really are that many who support Palin.

I'm starting to think that McCain's big October surprise will be dumping Palin from the ticket. It sounds just like one of his campaign tactics.

20. There is a possibility.
It's kind of hard to tell now. Obama was polling well here prior to Sarah's nomination. Of course, there was an immediate swing to the Republican side afterwards out of state pride or whatever, but the more we learn about Sarah's devious and odd "ways" and the more she stonewalls on the investigation, the less people are liking it, so she's definitely lost momentum.

I think a lot also depends on what happens to Ted Stevens in his trial, and if he's even able to run should he be found guilty (I would assume not). At first Mark Begich was polling well ahead of him, but since the trial has started there seems to be some backlash "sympathy" support building back up for Ted. (Oh, boo-hoo, poor Ted. They're so MEAN to him.)

There will be an Obama rally next Saturday, also at the park strip. I'll be posting more photos.
