Well I guess some DUers are in the "PANIC!" phase.

It's sad to see presumably grown people acting like chickens with their heads cut off.

It's even sadder to see reasoned democratic debate be once again trampled by blind fear.

1. Please elaborate...
The only person scared is John 'Insane' McCain. He couldn't even look Obama in the eye.

2. It's sad to see that people are in denial about the problem.
As I said in another thread, it's the same bad thinking behind climate change denial, simpleton Average Joes telling experts they are wrong because the simpleton Average Joe can't see the problem or refuses to see the problem.

5. I've been discussing the crisis for years.
It didn't happen overnight.

In fact, I moved most of my money into treasuries last summer in anticipation of large bank failures when most others said that was an impossible scenario.

What you need to understand is that some people are way out ahead on this, already in the hope phase.

We see the potential for some positive changes to the financial system, and a plan that would serve Americans well. Instead, because of these hysterical latecomers, we are getting an awful bill, which amounts to little more than a giveaway to the gamblers that created this storm, foisted upon us.

14. Just because we don't like the "solution" being rammed down our throats
...we're in denial about the problem? Nice framing. If only it were so black and white.

6. During times like a depression
it's always about the cheese. When I lived on the Texas coast during Reagan I actually saw them pass out gubment cheese from the backs of trucks. Don't know what it is but poor people must love cheese. Either that or they save sewage costs because the cheese clogs everyone up and they flush less.

10. Government cheese is awesome.
Sometimes my grandmom got government cheese from her brother. It was some tasty stuff. (Back in the 70's).

13. I was on surplus food for a couple of months in the 70's.
The cheese and peanut butter were the best. And we got real butter but you had to get there early. Same for the canned chicken. 10# flour per person per month, so with 2 kids, I started making my own bread, in my spare time!

Good times, good times....

:)

9. the ignorant are always easy marks for the fearmongers
You'll notice that most of those here who hyperventilate over the "crisis" accept hook, line and sinker the gloom and doom of the same Republicans who created the mess. As with the Patriot Act and the IWR, the weaker, more frightened Democrats are easily spooked into action.
