An unnoticed debate invitation from Rush Limbaugh to us - "They won't do it."
Yes, it's Rush's site. I was curious to see if he had any early post-debate spin for his listeners; so far, there's nothing. Guess he's busy prepping Caribou Barbie.

But I did find this transcript from last Friday's show where he's claiming that he'd be happy to debate "one of these kooks on the left," only problem is "They won't do it."

Really?

from http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_092608/content/01125110.guest.html

RUSH: Look. I am not going to sit here and just let them get away with that. I'm going to be pounding here, and I've got TV requests coming out both ears, and I hate doing them, I despise it, but everybody says, "You need to get out there on television because it reaches a different audience."

CALLER: You do!

RUSH: No!

CALLER: You do, Rush.

RUSH: Why should I go on a TV show with a million viewers when I'm sitting here with 22 of them?

CALLER: I would love to see you debate one of these kooks on the left.

RUSH: They won't do it.

CALLER: I know they won't. I know they won't.

Wouldn't it be fun if Air America made a very high-level invitation to Rush to appear with him on a cable-news TV show of his choosing? Can you imagine Rush up against (say) Rachel Maddow or Sam Seder?

1. Hey, there is an opening for Rachael to say Rush, you can come on my show anytime and
debate me if you feel you want.

2. Better yet--Rachel says "I'll go on Hannity and Colmes and let them moderate."

simulcasted on her show, of course.

5. Yeah, good point because she could say she would go anywhere, anytime because she is so superior
to him, location would not make any difference.

6. They would cut her mike or shout her down.
Then they would cut to a view of Rush rolling his eyes in disgust during her reply. You can't have a debate on FOX and produced by FOX that won't be skewed to the right by every dirty editing trick they can think of.

7. Yebbut simulcast on MSNBC...
it'd be the talk of the town. All the sleazy tricks deployed by Fox would become public discussion; Rush's listeners would be back on their heels, again, like they've been when he's stepped in it (say) mocking Michael J. Fox, or getting caught smuggling boner pills.

3. He's refusing the invitations, but "they" won't do it!!!!
His audience has to be made up of complete idiots.

8. His audience is willfully delusional.
They're not "idiots", so much as they deliberately ignore specific inconvenient facts, and believe in the World According to Rush.

9. Thom is the most experienced at disarming RW thugs
he does it with a polite smile several times a week on his radio show. He claims only two wingers have ever hung up on him, all these years on the radio.

12. Rushbo's Been Pulling This Shit For Years
I have it on very, very good authority, he would have a friend play the "liberul" he would tear apart on the air.
Rushbo is a big control freak and also one who doesn't like to come out of his rabbit hole. He's poison on teevee...and he won't dare go up against anyone. He needs to control and dominate the "golden microphone". You can't do that on someone elses' turf.

No way would she put up with him shouting her down. She could out-shout him.

16. A Rhodes-Limbaugh debate would be an eye/ear-opener for many.
A lot of people watching would have no idea that such a left-wing voice even exists on the radio.

That said, I think Obama's prospects for re-election would be better served by a Maddow or Hartmann. Post-election sure--let the Big Fat Idiot debate Rhodes. I'd need an extra-large popcorn for that.

19. OxyRush only appears on RW (ie Faux) TV shows.

He still remembers how Letterman made him look like a schmuck when he was on Dave's show some years ago.

20. hey, we all KNOW this... it's just that it's not often he hands us an invitation to call him out.
I'm kinda busy, but if someone felt like emailing Rachel and Keith, this could turn into another boner-pill embarrassment for Rush when he weaseled out (which, of course, he would.)

He knows that. It's why he sticks only to his radio show and Fox News.
