All along the Watchtower -- eerily prescient
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 12:12 PM by JDPriestly
There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
Theres too much confusion
I cant get no relief
Businessman they drink my wine
Plow men dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody of it is worth
Hey hey

No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke but uh
But you and I we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hours getting late
Hey

Hey

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Bare-foot servants to, but huh
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl
Two riders were approachin'
And the wind began to howl
Hey
Oh
All along the watchtower
Hear you sing around the watch
Gotta beware gotta beware I will
Yeah
Ooh baby
All along the watchtower

Jimi Hendrix

It's like he's talking to us today.
On edit - -lyrics are by Bob Dylan. This version of the lyrics is from a website advertising Hendrix's recording of it.

2. You are right. My post is from a Hendrix website.
I'm listening to version after version on Rhapsody. I will correct my original post because, of course, Dylan wrote the lyrics.

4. Yeah, seriously. Dylan wrote it and many, many other songs...
that will always be relevant.

Watchtower is one of the most coverred songs ever written, which says that artists appreciate it very much.

7. This should be our rallying cry.
This sums up the Bush administration like nothing else.

6. 10 out of 10 for Dylan's masterful lyrics, but Hendrix's eerie, moaning guitar work
is simply off the scale. Chills my blood every time...

8. Hendrix worshipped Bob Dylan - Dylan was very special to him
They interviewed Hendrix' girlfriend after his death and she said Jimi was always raving about Bob Dylan. Hendrix recorded other Dylan tunes as well, like 'Like A Rolling Stone', which was his favorite Dylan tune.
