Barney Frank just ripped the House Republicans a new....
So the House Republicans are claiming that they would have had the votes necessary to pass this legislation, but Pelosi gave a partisan speech that turned them away. Barney Frank just called them on that BS. Explaining how it doesn't make sense that people in Congress decided to punish the country because someone hurt their feelings. House Republican leaders claimed that they had 12 Republicans who changed their mind basically because their feelings were hurt. Barney Frank challenged them to name those 12 Republicans and he would go and speak very nicely to them if that would help change their vote.

5. "And this is the system we're saving"
From a House floor speech by Dennis Kucinich. The Republican Party is putting ideology before country and will be burned for it.

The fact remains that the Bush Administration did a poor job of selling this. If they can't even sell this idea, how will they fair when they implement it?

2. "Tell me who they are
and I will speak uncharacteristically nicely to them."

9. On MSNBC another House Democrat just accused Republicans of not upholding their oath
Wow! Accused them of essentially being unpatriotic. Not sure of his name; black House Dem from NY (not Charlie Rangel). Pretty much followed Barney Frank's reasoning in the interview. Saying that the Republicans weren't upholding their oath if they refused to do what was best for the country just because someone hurt their feelings.

11. And now Shuster is repeating the same
thing - Barney Frank hit it on the head, and it's resonating.

They put politics and hurt fee-fees ahead of the good of the country. And expected to leave the Dems holding the bag.

I think Barney Frank just succeeded in turning that one on its head.

See the problem.. fail to do their job... hold the requisite PR conference and blame each other for the failure to get anything accomplished.... A typical day in Washington it seems
