2. I think all the fear and the rush to do something was what republicans wanted

There's some people who don't think there is a need to rush this through and if you delay it long enough the banks might put a higher priority on doing something themselves if they know it's going to be up to them to save their own asses.

3. They have to be out tomorrow
out of respect for the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah. But there's probably nothing against Gentiles continuing the negotiations without them.

4. It's called cranking up the heat
The Dems and Obama don't need any bill. This is Bush's mess and it is Bush's party that killed it. I wouldn't be surprised if the key Dems called a 2-day R&R period Monday and Tuesday, they'll caucus Wednesday at an undisclosed location and they will drop a new plan on the table Thursday. This new plan will be the REAL Dem plan with real teeth that takes this out of giveaway mode and makes the crooks give up their booty if they want to save their companies. And this will be on the table just in time for Palin to make a fool of herself on Thursday.

We are in control of the clock now.

7. Some people are celebrating their New Year - and as far as I'm concerned that's
more important.
