For the 1st time I am proud of the entire AZ Cong Delegation! ALL voted NO! |
|
From the most Liberal members of our Delegation Raul Grijalja to the most staunch consevative Shadegg all united to vote no on the bailout! It may not be true bipartisanship as I am sure they had completely different reasons for doing so but unite they did and it proves it can be done. I now only pray a better plan emerges.

7. That would be 20% unemployment and a Great Depression II |
|
WITHOUT the added burden of 700 billion more borrowed dollars (if we could find anyone to borrow from; otherwise, it's just PRINTING 700 billion dollars backed by vapor).
Which do you prefer - a Great Depression or the Greatest Depression?

8. The bail-out as constructed would have done NOTHING to |

prevent a depression. At best it stood a teeny weeny chance of delaying a systemic collapse of the financial system (which is not, by the way, the same thing as "the economy"), but it could not have prevented the inevitable and would mostly likely have made the inevitable collapse even worse.
Even though the U.S. economy has morphed away from real goods and services and into a financial ("FIRE") economy that serves to funnel wealth into the hands of the lucky few, the actual fundamentals of the real economy remain sound. Those fundamentals aren't being utilized effectively or efficiently right now. They can't be as long as funds are being sucked OUT of the economy and deposited directly into the gaping maw of the already over-stuffed. Cramming more down the gullets of the gluttons will not fix the real economy at all.

9. This bill was seen by economist Ravi Batry as a ploy to bolster |
|
McCain's campaign up to the election. He said it would fail beyond that. I'm glad Arizonans saw it for what it was because who would know Senator McCain better than those in his state. IMHO.
