Topix.com: another FreeRepublic?

I go there sometimes to hear people's reactions to certain news stories but I've realized now that it seems like a carbon copy of AOL's old political forums. Lots of mindless parroting of conservative slogans, "Obama is an uppity terra-ist ni...I mean Muslim, 9/11 changed everything, Gawd bless President George W. Bush *swoon*, fight them over there instead of here, support our troops, four more years, four more years, FOUR MORE YEARS!!!!!" I never realized there were really this many McCain supporters until I saw them on Topix spewing Fox viewpoints like robots. Fortunately, there was one brilliant response that I loved:

(paraphrased)
"Why is everything about abortion and homosexuality with you people? Do you realize that Jesus had absolutely nothing to say about either of them? Your house could be on fire and you'd just be worried about saving straight people who haven't had abortions first."

So, is Topix another FreeRepublic or fair and balanced and I'm just looking at the wrong threads?
