Bailout semantics.
There is a lot of opposition to the "bailout" on both the left and the right. Both groups characterize the financial rescue plan as a "Wall Street bailout." Hard to cozy up to that! Furthermore, dividing the magic $700 billion number by the population of the USA (about 300,000,000) gives us a cost of $2300 per person. As one astute commentator observed- enough for 2000 McDonalds apple pies! Now wouldn't that make you much happier than bailing out the fat cats on Wall Street? It's a real no-brainer. Bailout-schmailout say I!

Now what if the bailout had a primary effect of halting a credit crisis and preventing the entire economy from going into the toilet? What if we called it a financial rescue package instead of a bailout? Would it be worth doing that even if some fat cats walked away with maybe half of their obscene wealth still intact?

For what it's worth: if you had $26,000 in an S&P index fund at the start of this day, you LOST $2300. Tomorrow is another day but I wouldn't bet that doing nothing is going to get any better.

12. Bush/Obama.
The sticking point was conservative Republicans. This bill may get worse rather than better. The reality-based question becomes- is no bill better than a compromise which pleases no one? Stay tuned.

15. Obama was wrong, imo.
I still support him 100%.

So was Chimp. My support is still at 0%.

3. Pretty much anyone who is pipe dreaming
that the socialist revolution is here and it's time to really soak the rich.

Or the many here who think there really isn't any kind of crisis.

9. Wish I understood what that means..
but yes, it's too bad we can't hold the election today and install Obama tomorrow, along with another 8 to 10 Democratic Senators and 30 more Democratic House members.

At that point, real reform could be withing reach.

So yeah, Go Bush.... going, going, GONE!

No socialist revolution going on. An end to Chimponomics.

Soak the rich? A fair share would be a great start.

No crisis? The 8 year anniversay of crisis is coming up. This is just the exclamation point.

13. My point is... it ain't the end of anything until the little bastard
has packed up and moved his ass to Texas... or Paraguay.

Yes, this is an exclamation point to his pResidency. something like *!

Unfortunately it isn't over yet. And I think something needs to be done right the fuck now to avoid some very bad things...

They knew this was coming... they tried to stick their collective heads in the sand until AT LEAST after the election (there isn't anything about this that helps repukes or McLame). That they couldn't delay anymore tells me that the goose really is cooked this time.

How much better for this "bank heist" would it have been to happen mid November? No matter who won?

Are you pro-OP or anti-OP(w/sarcasm)?

This should solve our difficulties. :)
