Does anyone know what's going on downtown Seattle?
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 12:22 PM by Defenestrate
Everyone on the south side of my bldg (Wells Fargo, between Madison and Marion on 3rd) has been ordered away from the windows. There's yellow police tape blocking off Columbia St., many patrol cars, and fire trucks on the street. I can't look out my window to see what's going on and there's nothing on radio or news web sites.

7. There's still money in banks?
Q: Why do you rob banks?

Willie Sutton: Because that's where the money is.

Mr. Sutton may have to rethink his strategy before much longer.

SEATTLE -- The bomb squad has been called to 3rd Avenue and Columbia Street in Seattle after a bank robber left a suspicious note, said Robbie Burroughs of the Seattle office of the FBI.

The Washington Federal Savings in downtown Seattle was robbed around 9:20 a.m., said Seattle Police Department spokeswoman Renee Witt.

3. Off Topic
When I was stationed at Fort Lewis Seattle was a pretty cool place. I've been out to Pioneer square as well as attended the Seahawks vs Saints game last year. I haven't spent much time over there because it's like an hour drive up I-5. I lived out in East Tacoma.

10. Bomb threat?
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 12:58 PM by Cleita
Years ago I ran into such a blockade in Los Angeles that was surrounding a building that had an IRS office. Evidently, a person had parked a truck full of explosives in the parking garage. I don't know how they knew but they were able to diffuse the bomb in the truck and eventually arrest the person who did it so the incident ended well.

On edit: An afterthought. Why don't you call up one of your local stations like KING and tell them what's going on. Maybe they will send out a news team to investigate.
