La. legislator (R-Dukkke's Old District) wants to pay poor women to be sterilized
No, really. This really is a current newspaper article from 2008, not a reprint from the Berlin Gazette of 1939.

http://www.nola.com/news/index.ssf/2008/09/labruzzo_sterilization_plan_fi.html

Worried that welfare costs are rising as the number of taxpayers declines, state Rep. John LaBruzzo, R-Metairie, said Tuesday he is studying a plan to pay poor women $1,000 to have their Fallopian tubes tied....

LaBruzzo said he worries that people receiving government aid such as food stamps and publicly subsidized housing are reproducing at a faster rate than more affluent, better-educated people who presumably pay more tax revenue to the government. He said he is gathering statistics now....

It also could include tax incentives for college-educated, higher-income people to have more children, he said.

Lovely. "Honey, I just went over our 1040, and we could really use a tax break." "Not tonight, dear, I have a headache." :eyes: On the other hand, Cheney had a baby just for the draft deferment, so why not for a tax break? :sarcasm:

And here's a shocker:

His 81st House District runs from Old Metairie north to Bucktown and west along Lake Pontchartrain to the Suburban Canal. In a somewhat different configuration, it is the same district that sent white supremacist David Duke to the Legislature in 1989.

Really? Who would have thought?

2. As a 'poor woman' if some one offered to pay for my operation
and give me a small cheque to cover food or rent, Yeah, I would consider it.
As long as I have a CHOICE and the personal freedom from bigotry, Why not!

OK, I'm way to old for this to matter, but if my daughters wanted the operation,
I'm the first person in line to pay for it. Bringing kids into THIS world, not so much.
