4. Yeah, me too.
I mean, it sounds like probably there needs to be something done - I'm not of the "let it all crash and burn" school. But I'm not buying the whole "We gotta do it NOW NOW NOW OR WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE (or at least be homeless)!!!!11!!1!!!11!11!!!!!!!!!1!!" version of things either.

5. I really didn't mean this as snarky either
I have actually seen people state that we might be in danger of not getting paid because of the credit crunch.
So, at least this didn't happen to me yet.
I am glad that we aren't rushing in to this problem like it seemed.

7. The Darwinian truth about economics
is that if a business chronically needs a credit line to make payroll, it should not survive.

Hard truth, but a major truth.

9. yes
My company had a record month last month.
Of course, I am in the transportation industry so falling fuel prices are helping.
If the credit crunch deepens however and businesses can't get money to produce freight for me to move then I'm sure I will be fucked.
We shall see.
I've always lived by the philosophy of prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

11. Mel Brooks, "The Twelve Chairs"
That great song, "Hope For The Best, Expect The Worst":

Hope for the best, expect the worst,
Some drink champagne, some die of thirst,
No way of knowing
Which way it’s going,
Hope for the best, expect the worst
!
Hope for the best, expect the worst,
The world’s a stage, we’re unrehearsed,
Some reach the top, friends,While others drop, friends,
Hope for the best, expect the worst
!
I knew a man who made a fortune that was splendid
Then he died the day he’d planned to go and spend it
Shouting “Live while you’re alive! No one will survive!”
Life is sorrow — here today and gone tomorrow.
Live while you’re alive, no one will survive –There’s no guarantee.

Hope for the best, expect the worst,
You could be Tolstoy or Fanny Hurst.
You take your chances,There are no answers,
Hope for the best expect the worst!

I knew a man who made a fortune that was splendid
Then he died the day he’d planned to go and spend it
Shouting “Live while you’re alive! No one will survive!”
Life is funny — spend your money! Spend your money! <*>
Live while you’re alive, no one will survive –There’s no guarantee.

Hope for the best, expect the worst,
The rich are blessed, the poor are cursed,
That is a fact, friends,The deck is stacked, friends,
Hope for the best, expect the –

(even with a good beginning, it’s not certain that you’re winning;
even with the best of chances, they can kick you in the pantses)
Look out for the, watch out for the worst! Hey!

8. I got paid too...
And we've seen our best year ever... we can stop earning right now, today, and still beat last year.

I got paid and my check was auto-deposited into my WaMu... ermmm... JP Morgan/Chase account right on schedule.

Fear can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. I try to steer clear.

I've lost half of all my assets in the past couple of years... 401k dead... IRA dead... home equity in negative numbers... There's no way the market can recover in time for me to recoup before retirement. But I'll be GOD DAMNED if I'm going to let them make me afraid. That would only make things worse.

10. Jesus, I'm sorry
I'm still young enough that if things get ironed out in the end I'm likely to recoup the losses I've taken.
I haven't looked at my account statements for the past few months. I've just decided that I put the money in there for better or worse and if I end up losing it all by the time it's time for me to retire then I'm fucked anyway.

After the first $10k went down the toilet, I haven't had the heart. I talk to my advisor every other month or so and ask for vague answers:) I have stopped contributing except to the money market guaranteed income funds. The saddest part is, we are in uncharted territory, so all the economics and investment theories are out the window. Anyone's best guess is as good as the next guys for the most part.
