Something just went wrong with McCain's face on national TV

In the post below, we showed a scene that just took place in which McCain was momentarily confused on stage, not knowing where to go. We posted the video because it was funny. But Joe just realized that literally seconds before McCain became confused on stage, his face twitched or convulsed twice. Look at the photos above and below. They're from around 5 seconds (above) and 11 second (below) into the video Joe posted below.

It happened twice. First in a rather major way at 5 seconds, then more minor at 10/11 seconds. You can see McCain's left eye twitch closed, and at the same time, the left corner of his lip twitched upwards - it's especially pronounced in the 4th photo above. What is going on with McCain's health? This isn't normal. And it happened right before he became confused and couldn't figure out how to get off the stage.

perhaps he's having mini-strokes, which very well can lead to a major one. His face seems twitchy and puffy of late, not just in that video. I noticed it during the debates too.

for some time now.
Sometimes it is droopy, other times his eyes are real wide on both sides.
First time I have noticed the mouth twitch like that.
I have noticed he gets befuddled more during the evening, but hell, he is 72.
I would be willing to bet the guy is getting serious meds to keep him going.

He clearly has something going on to cause the drooping on the left side of his face. That wasn't there during the primaries, was it? Add to that the twitching and the apparent confusion. I think it's about time they addressed this.

People were starting to point out strange things about the way he looked about a month ago. The videos from that time were inconclusive IMO, but now things are happening more and more often often and are far more striking.

I'm not worried so much about "tics" than his overall demeanor: he now appears tired, worn-out, perhaps even drugged-up. Compare that video with ones of him even as recently as the primary campaign:

As a way to emphasize what he's speaking. Nothing stroke- or palsy-like in it. Now, if it had lasted longer or didn't match what he was saying, then I could agree.

I shared the clip with my son, who worked for a while as a receptionist in a nursing home, and his immediate response was that "that befudled looking back and forth" was exactly what he'd observed there.

The facial twitches may or may not be significant -- but McCain is clearly not on top of things.

And for those of us of a certain (ahem) age, we remember Bert Parks saying how important the naming of the First Runner-Up was. Because in case the winner of Miss America was unable to perform the duties of her office for any reason (like posing nude for Playboy), then the First Runner-Up would assume the crown, scepter and duties.

I'm sure Sarah is ready to step up to the task. And our political folklore will be the richer for it.
