Propelled by concerns over the financial crisis and a return of support from female voters, Barack Obama has opened a formidable 7-point lead over John McCain, reaching the 50% threshold among likely voters for the first time in the general campaign for President, according to a new TIME poll.

Obama now leads McCain 50%-43% overall, up from 46%-41% before the parties' conventions a month ago. Obama's support is not just broader but sturdier; 23% of McCain supporters said they might change their mind, while only 15% of Obama's said they could be persuaded to switch.

Among the poll's most dramatic findings: McCain is losing female voters faster than Sarah Palin attracted them after the Republican National Convention. Obama leads McCain by 17 points with women, 55%-38%. ......

I was called by a pollster on Monday and asked a LOT of questions specifically about my AA Governor Patrick (D-MA) and Obama. At the end of all the questions I told the young woman that I am an educated, white, middle aged, woman and I'm voting for Obama and she giggled and laughed. That's basically what she wanted to know anyway without coming right out and asking me! ;)

1. Our "rock star" beats the crap out of their "rock star"
I'm not sure if being a "rock star" is a good thing or a bad thing anymore... first McCain's camp said it was a very bad thing, then they called Palin a rock star like it was a good thing!

I can hardly wait for the debate!

3. I know and my HRC supporting sister called today about the "experience" issue
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 01:38 PM by Breeze54
and she's still miffed that Dem pundits didn't say one word about Obama's experience until after he was nominated and that still irks her BUT she will be voting for the ticket come November 4th. I don't care if the phrase 'rock star' is used. What ever it takes to get a Dem in the WH is the goal. We just can't afford another RWer there anymore.

:hi:
