Poll question: Alaska Governor Palin has answered several questions in a passive-aggressive manner.
For example, when asked by Katie Couric to explain what she meant by her comments about having watched Joe Biden's speeches since the second grade, Palin responded with what appears to be her go-to emotional response: passive-aggressiveness.

Should Joe Biden address her passive-aggressiveness?

10. yes....this is a debate not a fucking date
he needs to destroy her because people will want to see her under pressure, in a real world situation, like a determined Putin pissed off at the US. Initially it will get the sympathy vote, but give it a few days and everything that Biden exposes will start to be brought up.

Be too nice and she is going to ride that train until November.

2. I think Joe's plan is
to let her be herself. Not the 'herself' so many conservatives THINK they saw in Minneapolis, the REAL herself -- passive aggressive, small, small-minded, and outright ignorant.

IOW, I think Joe should phrase his responses in ways that encourage her to talk as much as possible. As I see it, the more her mouth is open, the more Joe will win. I know some here on DU disagree with me, but...after watching that Katie Couric interview, how can letting this woman stutter around with circular responses NOT prove our point about her?

Just my $0.02. (Now worth about $0.0000003 after dollar devaluation)

Shallow. Thinks she knows more and is more important than she really is.

12. i think Joe will 'get under her skin' with facts and overall knowledge
she will be left like a hanging chad....she will be on the attack-but that is not going to get her very far.

13. Maybe I should have added ...
... that the way she uses passive-aggressiveness is part of what the GOP-controlled media define as her "folksiness."

It kinda goes along with another one of my threads (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=4143548&mesg_id=4143548).

16. Biden needs to talk past her and let her hang herself
and she will oblige him.

However, if she lies before a rebuttal period, he needs to address the lie without addressing her.

20. I think her response to Couric's reading question really shows
the pattern she prefers to take:
Evade
Spout generalities
Kick in the cutesy "charm" in accent and demeanor
Redirect and attack the question/questioner - the part at the end where she tries to make it sound as if the question is somehow a put-down of Alaskans when it's nothing of the sort.

Joe can counter this in a few ways. One is to use specifics and note that, something along the lines of "I specifically supported abc because of xyz." Something that absolutely deflects and deflates a passive-aggressive attack is humor and I hope he plans to use it at some point, especially after she uses whatever her sure-to-be rehearsed jab is.

24. I still believe that under the self-defensive cynical shield
so many of us have put up is a hope most Americans share for leaders we can respect and admire. Obama and Biden represent that and we are working to place them in the position to represent all of us.
Obama did so well in his debate that citizens rejected the pundits' best attempts to convince us that McCain had won.
I look forward to Biden doing the same tonight.

21. Passive aggressive? In my opinion, no....
Angry body language? Yes...

Condescending? Yes...

Deer-in-the-headlights? Yes...

So confused/stressed/scared/overwhelmed by a simple question that she had to resort to poorly internalized/understood Republican talking points? Definitely yes...

even if taking a steaming dump on her hairdo is called for.

But really, he should just be the clever and intelligent gentleman he is, and the rest will take care of itself.

27. Other..
Palin says a lot of words, but collectively they mean nothing.

I've stopped trying to make sense of her word vomits.

Remember the SNL 2000 debate skit between Bush and Gore? This excerpt reminds me of Palin:
-----------------
Jim Lehrer: Governor Bush, the next question is for you. Two weeks ago, at a meeting of the Economic Club in Detroit, you said the following: "More seldom than not, the movies gives us exquisite sex and wholesome violence, that underscores our values. Every two child did. I will." What did you mean by that?
