13. ...with the tax cuts I knew would go in
The gambit this time should have been a more left-of-center bill and a full press in the media touting as sticking up for the little guy.

16. I wrote them precisely that after it failed
but I guess they were afraid that even if they managed to get it through the house... it would be filibustered in the Senate... or worst vetoed... and granted for political games that would be brilliant... but this is not fully the time to play these games

I hate politics, and to get how this works, I really do.

I foresee the same pattern as the great depression re: legislation

I want a slew of progressive legislation.. won't happen until we get a new congress (I hope)

That said, they may not even have the votes on Friday... seems the wrong republicans will NOT vote for any of this on "principle"

(Translation, saint Reagan was wrong)

So under the CURRENT congress this less than ideal bill will only buy us some time.

2. That's NOT what he said
He said it was better than it was. He would have to vote for it.

4. He actually said BOTH. He said it was worse, "larded down", then I think he actually misspoke the
second time.

What KILLS me, is the lack of imagination. THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES to this bullshit.

No he didn't - he said it was worse than the one that failed...
...but he would vote for it because there's not time before the election to pass a good one.

17. You too! Here is the sentence:
Once again they have thrown an absurdly long, vague and complex, pork-filled bill at you at the 11th hour, demanding immediate acceptance "for the good of our country".

18. He also said it needs to be done now. There isn't time for alternatives.
And it's just a stopgap measure to keep things from exploding.

I don't understand the situation fully. And I doubt many others do either. Krugman made it clear that it had to be done.

I personally agree with you. I think there are alternatives. But Krugman spends every minute in touch with the pulse of this economy and it's handlers.

24. I heard what he said. To be clear, KRUGMAN SUPPORTS PASSAGE of the bill.
Nobody's pleased with the bill, and Krugman is less pleased with the revised version than the original version. But please be clear. He wants the bill passed.
