Likewise, I don't know the origins of the nicknames "Tweety" for Chris Mathews or "Pickles" for Laura Bush. All I know is I like them all.

I think Jesus would like this stuff. He didn't seem to get too upset with a bit of kidding. The net with too many fishes was one of his bestest jokes.

In a episode many seasons ago, during some crisis (there have been so many on the Simpsons...) yells out "Save me Jeebus!"
I'm not sure if that's the ORIGINAL use, but it's one of the most popular ones.
