Pat Robertson foresees war soon in Mideast
Source: The Virginian-Pilot

Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson is urging prayer before Election Day to stave off an imminent Middle Eastern war he said could bring nuclear attacks on the United States.

In a letter on his Web site, www.patrobertson.com, Robertson said his opinion was that Israel would bomb Iranian nuclear sites between Nov. 4 and the inauguration of the United States' new president.

Robertson tied his warning to biblical prophesy. His letter, which starts out describing his concerns about Russian aggression in Georgia, predicted that Russia would also enter the war, though the United States wouldn't.

"However, we may not be spared nuclear strikes against coastal cities" in America, he wrote.

A version of the letter was sent in September to members of Regent University, where Robertson is founder and president. He is also founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network and host of its daily show, "The 700 Club." The network and university are based in Virginia Beach.

"We have between 75 and 120 days before the Middle East starts spinning out of control," Robertson wrote. "If there was ever a time for fervent prayer, it is now."

4. Sounds like ol' Pat's ego HAD to find a way to let him spill the beans on the October Surprise
After all, what better way for a charlatan-preacher to keep his creduluous fools in line than making a "prediction" (about the Iran assault) that he already KNOWS is in the works.

Smart, from a con-man point of view (and that IS Pat's FIRST CALLING), but dumb from the point of view of a Bushie Conspirator trying to keep the lid on it.

As usual, if that is indeed the October Surprise, an Israeli attack or nuking of Iran, it won't matter how many of the Amerikan Subject Populace sees through Robertson's thin ploy (just as it didn't matter how many Germans saw through the transparently obvious Nazis) because such will be denied any microphone or venue where they could voice these suspicions that would be all almost certain to be true.

In other words, as with everything else in Imperial Amerika...the commoners will scream but nothing will come out... as usual.

And I count the Bailout among them. Sure they Bushies gave us our "feel good" victory. Then they made the bill WORSE for ordinary Americans and shoved it down our throats ANYWAY.

Yeah, a real expression of resistance, that was.

6. he is sort of leaving out the part about the intelligence God gave to the actual
world leaders, here in the 21st century. That which sets us above the animals, as the only creatures who have a sense of the past and the future.

Can't have it both ways, Pat.

Aren't we always supposed to be seeking the higher level and be more like God, who most assuredly does not want this world to end? He needs to read Noah again, maybe

I love the way these same ole prophecies keep resurfacing year after year, decade after decade, century after century, each time 'predicting' a new date of End Time Follies.

In the year 1000 AD they all knew the world was going to end.
Look at what happened in 2000?

29. Who would Jesus assassinate?
That’s irrelevant in the minds of those who follow the likes of Pat Robinson and Jim Jones. You see…, what Jesus said 2000 years ago was then, and this is now. And the Jesus followers are convinced that Jesus speaks through the mouths of people like Pat Robinson, Gorge Bush and Sara Palin, et al.

And what does Jesus supposedly say?

Don’t misjudge the power of psychopaths, once they gain political or religious power.

Really, what are the odds of a war in the Middle East? It's not like we can't all see that coming, or like there aren't at least two wars already going there (the Israelis vs Lebanon/Syria and the war in Iraq).

28. I don't know. I read his entire letter
and he has some pretty sophisticated analysis:

"Where will the United States be in all of this conflict? According to Ezekiel, the “young lions of Tarshish” will be questioning the Russians about their aggression – questioning, but not acting to stop it. Who are these “young lions of Tarshish?” Tarshish was the region beyond Cadiz in Spain. In antiquity, explorers from Tarshish came to Ireland, then across the ocean to North America, traveling the Mississippi River as far as the present-day site of Davenport, Iowa.

I believe the term “young lions of Tarshish” refers to England and the United States of America."

Aw come on. Do I have to?. You mean someone on DU might think . . . Okay, here it is. Jeeez. :sarcasm:

I find it surprising that anybody, even within the religious community, takes him seriously aftee he supported that fascistic, bigoted, cross-dressing, murderous adulterer Giuliani.

48. And I do laugh-- at both sides of the coin.
Gotta be honest here. His predictions really don't seem to be too different in form, if not in function of many of the "end-timer, wars-and-rumors-of-wars, economic-meltdown, stock-up-on-ammo-and-rations, soon-to-be-a-civil-war-in-the-US, black-helicopters, fascist-government-around-the-corner" posts we read almost daily on DU.

As much as we may laugh at him for his fortune telling, I think we must then laugh at ourselves for the precise same type of sky-is-falling prognostications we are guilty of.

And I do laugh-- at both sides of the coin.

Stand by for the rapture. Rapture index sits at 164, btw. (High of 182 on Sept 24, 2001, just to get some perspective). For anything above 160 we are to "fasten our seatbelts". Which doesn't make any sense, because wouldn't that slow down being raptured?

52. I sat in church and was forced by my parents to listen to JVI in 1967 as a kid...
and he was predicting the rapture would occur before 1970. He even had diagrams and mathematical "proof". Something about Daniel's seven weeks and the 6 day war that just occurred.

He must have slipped a decimal point or two somewhere, cause it never happened, and he's still around.
