Timely book: "Traitor to His Class: The Privileged Life and Radical Presidency of FDR"
Pro-FDR biography, written by H.W. Brands, to be released on Nov. 4 by Doubleday.

If ever we need a new FDR, it's now.

3. "Traitor to his class" was what FDR's wealthy enemies called him
but it was then taken up something as a badge-of-honor by his supporters.

4. I'm talking about the radical part.
Radical today is not necessarily a good thing in many Americans' eyes.

We live in a mainstream media-brainwashed society, and anything geared to go against the grain of corporate interests is automatically considered "communist."

9. Speaking of going against corporate interests ...
... here are two alternative links to booksellers that don't support the GOP, as Amazon.com does (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/gate/archive/2004/12/22/notes122204.DTL):

Traitor at Powell's

Please consider these companies for your purchases, instead of Amazon.com.

5. I didn't care much for Brands' Andrew Jackson biography...I thought it
glossed over—or even winked at—Jackson's more assholish traits (and he had many).

7. Interesting...
FDR: This should make for amusing reading!
ER: I don't think I could bear to read it. People just don't 'get' the New Deal at all...
