Voter stupidity... example # 3,297...
Her in Washington state, the Dem governor - Gregoire - is fighting a close race with a dickhead Rep named Rossi.

It's a close race, and observers can's figure out why. Blue state... in a blue year, and all.

I know why.

Rossi is running as a "GOP". Turns out 25% of voters don't know that GOP is the same as Republican.

Holy shit!

1. The Republican brand is tarnished
Most candidates, on their websites, don't even mention it

2. Oh man! It might be a good idea for the DEM to actually make
signs and bumperstickers saying "Rossi is a Republican!"

4. All One Has to Do is Listen to Him to Know His Political Affiliation
His economic policy is the exact same as GWs. In every debate he comes off as a sneering, condescending, lying lowlife, but that's par for brainwashed Republicans and they will vote for him anyway.
He's not any different from any other right wing Republican.

3. Gregoire's new ad has Rossi morphing into Chimp.
It will be highly effective, methinks.

5. That sounds good! We need one of Mitch Daniels morphing into Chimp here in Indiana.
Daniels is running commercials about how he increased money for social services for children - and he did, he really did. He simultaneously did everything he could to destroy social services for adults. You remember Mitch...?

What would war with Iraq cost?
CNN Washington Bureau

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/01/01/sproject.irq.war.cost/

White House Office of Management and Budget Director Mitch Daniels told The New York Times in an interview published Tuesday that such a conflict could cost $50 billion to $60 billion -- the price tag of the 1991 Persian Gulf War.

But Trent Duffy, an OMB spokesman, said Daniels did not intend to imply in the Times interview that $50 billion to $60 billion was a hard White House estimate.

In September, Daniels disputed an estimate by Bush economic adviser Larry Lindsey -- who has since left the White House -- that war with Iraq could cost $200 billion.

<snip>

Daniels said he believes Lindsey's estimate was "the upper end of a hypothetical," Duffy said.

Congressional Democrats this past fall estimated the cost of a military attack against Iraq around $93 billion.

But they noted that the figure did not include costs such as U.S. peacekeeping efforts, foreign assistance or loan forgiveness, or the economic impact should an oil crisis ensue.

7. I was watching an exit poll
the night of the 1994 rout. A majority believed that whomever won Foley's district would inherit the Speakership. I always wondered how many votes would've been changed if they knew that voting for the Gooper meant surrendering the perks of seniority.
