Were there NEW taxes in the bailout bill? |
|
My co-worker, a Ron Paul supporter, showed me this link today. Ron Paul says, "The new bailout version had new taxes, so according to the Constitution it should not have originated in the Senate." Here is the link: http://www.house.gov/htbin/blog_inc?BLOG,tx14_paul,blog,999,All,Item%20not%20found,ID=081006_2459,TEMPLATE=postingdetail.shtmlI don't know what to think about it. Opinions? TIA

and they added the bailout to previously passed legislation. That's why the tax extenders were in there too. Which didn't get reported by the great tax watchdog organizations, duh.

2. Tax bills can't originate in the Senate. This was a mental health bill. |
|
They just tacked the bailout bill to it.

.....is allowed to originate from the Senate under the Constitution, so the whole bill is unconstitutional.
