Before rally today..Pallin attends $10,000 -a-plate Luncheon
Edited on Mon Oct-06-08 04:18 PM by lib2DaBone
Sarah Palin was in Naples, Florida today and attended a $10,000-a-plate luncheon where Diners lined up for 2 hours to get a chance to talk to the Hockey Mom. The luncheon was held at the home of John Donahue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_F._Donahue Donahue is one of the main benefactors of the new Catholic College of Ave Maria located in Naples, where women are not allowed to wear 2-piece bathing suits. This is the same College where beer, cigarettes and Playboy Magazines are banned from all Convenience stores within 20 miles and wooden crosses are plentiful. (If you are a student looking for a party school, this may not be the place.) While I'm not necessarily in need of a 6-pack or a copy of Playboy, I do look at the economy.. and I sure could use $10,000. (I could live for a whole year on what McCain/Palin spend for lunch) So if you think YOU live in a red state.. you have no idea how bad it is in Florida. I want to move away from here.. but thanks to the Republicans.. I can't sell my house. Palin went on to address a crowd of 8 thousand at a local Hockey arena, where the local Sheriff introduced her by calling Obama , "Hussein" Obama . The crowd inside the arena cheered, but some in the local media cringed as their phones began to ring over the "Hussein" dig. Palin promised tax cuts, jobs, freedom, patriotism, cheap energy, and spent most of the speech slamming Obama. There was no mention of today's Dow retreat or the Bailout.

14. Well, for most of the people that live here, $10K is pocket change.

For fear of a lawsuit or getting murdered, I can't name actual names,(but could I tell you some stories) but most of the people who live in this exclusive gulfside community, come from very old money. Very similar to Jupiter Island where G.H.W. Bush's mother lived in the 50's and 60's. The Rockefellers and the Vanderbilts and the old money from the Railroad days. These are the trust babys that were grandchildren of the tycoons. They travel to points north in the summer (Hamptons, Doerr County, Newport,Cape Cod, etc,) and then live here in the winter. I suppose I can't blame them.. they are protecting "their" lifestyle... easy money, tax breaks, wealth, privledge. They own the radio stations and TV stations and Newspapers.. so we know what political viewpoint will be allowed to be dispensed. (you 'Betcha.. it ain't Democratic) The problem is that the Titanic is going down, and because of their ignorance and privledge, they are going to take every one along with them. I would rather get off the Titanic now, but they won't let us. They will force us into tent cities, bread lines and nuclear war, while they scamper off to their custom bunkers. This Palin lady is Hitler with glasses and a bun hairdo.

3. Promising tax cuts but those in that arena ARE NOT the ones who will be on the receiving end.
It will be the ones who paid $10,000-a-plate, and as usual, they don't get that. Morans!

People hear "tax Cut" and oh boy.. off to the Palin races we go. But what they fail to realize.. is the tax cuts Palin is talking about is NOT FOR THEM! It's for the super wealthy. It's like that comedian Ron ( What's his Name) says.. "You can't cure stupid". Most people can't find Iraq on a map and most people think bi-partisan is a gay Congressman. Arrrrrgh... Morans (sic)

16. All we can do is spread the truth.
 Personally I never got the "I hate paying taxes" thing. To me, it's the price of living in a free society. We are all in this together, or we should be.

4. I was under the impression that the maximum amount an individual could contribute was $2,000.
How can they spend Ten thousand dollars in contributions in this manner?

5. Im not sure how that works..

I know that when Bush is here... he usually goes for $25K a plate. (That's called the "Silver" level or Pioneer Donor or some such title in the party) So I guess getting a hot dog and some french fries for $10K and the chance to say hello to Palin is a good deal. :sarcasm:

10. Yes, this is a big loophole. You can "buy" lunch with a candidate.
If somebody offers you lunch for $10,000 and you're willing to buy it, or spend $25,000 on dinner with a politician, then that's fine.

13. It'd be for the state party ... not the campaign. Remember, M/P are using public financing.

6. I'm not certain about the amount either but I think it is donated to the
puke party, not the candidate. She was here in Clearwater too, the shillls on rw radio were estatic, 8000 to 9000 people in attendance. When it was all over they stated an accurate 4K, no more.

You know, the left side of Florida was pretty cool back in the 70s, it's not so cool anymore.

Peace

11. they are the idle rich, the women that don't even know their husbands
look at their faces. YOu can see they have never been hungry, never wondered where the next meal or job is coming from. Then they wonder why their hubs grab a trophywife at the first opportunity. I've seen it here in St. Pete, in Orlando, Sarasota, Naples, Ft. Myers and Tampa. The women get this pinched look with hollow eyes. It's a sad death and I think they are trying to believe the woman speaking to them cares about them.

8. How elitist of her; isn't she more the barbeque type?
And in regards to John donahue, and his Catholic connections...

I get the vibe that Palin's fundie credentials percieve
Catholics as 'not true christians' who are hellbound.
But.. money is money, and politics makes for
bizarre bedfellows..

just sayin'...

12. Yes, I wondered the same thing.
The Fundies don't think the Catholics are true Christians... but when it comes to money.. "we can work it out." But it seems these days that Catholicism is getting pretty "Fundie". I'm not Catholic, but my neighbors tell me they get preached to each Sunday from the Pulpit about abortion and political topics.. and it sure ain't (sic) Democrats the Church is routing for.
