I have a question about Bill Ayers |
|
Was he ever indicted?
If yes, did he serve time in jail, or something?
Once released and paid his dues to society, shouldn't we accept him, and others, as full and equal members of society?
What's the big deal? Republicans socialize with many embezzlers after they've paid their dues to society.

He was never convicted. All charges were dropped against him back in 1974.
There Sarah palin goes again, LOOKIN' BACK.
(and fucking up her "facts". Again.)

4. In this case, shouldn't he be considered innocent? |
|
I am sure that the police or the FBI would have loved to indict him even back then.

9. Was thinking of the legal term: innocent until proven guilty |
|
though, of course, once a defendant is found "not guilty" it does not mean he is innocent. I am thinking OJ Simpson now, from 13 years ago.

10. He was charged, it never went to court. All charges were dropped. That = INNOCENT. |
|
Except to republicans, of course.
To republicans, you're guilty if they say you are.
Republicans think "law" and "innocent" and "US Constitution" etc are "quaint".

|

16. No, Keating went to prison for 5 years, I'm guessing he had to have |
|
been found guilty to end up there...But mccain got off with a slap on the wrist...of course contribution laws have changed and if he had taken all those trips, accepted gifts and parties with Keating now, he would have been charged and found guilty, just like Ryan in Chicago...Oh yeah there was also Cindy's dad in business with Keating influencing mccain, but that means nothing, right?:sarcasm:

17. Bingo! "It's ok if you're a republican"; however, fact is Keating went to jail. |

Fact is, Ayers was never convicted, all charges were dropped.
But that ain't gonna matter to republicans.
"Party uber alles"; it's the rightwing way of life.

:-) Not like I'm comparing rePigliCons to Jesus...far far far far FARFARFAR from it! Hell, until last week, their savior was the holy and sacred Free Market System.

7. It doesn't look like he went to jail |
|
apparantly the FBI mismanaged evidence against him so they had to drop the charges.
Bill Ayers was active in the 60's when Obama was 8 or 9 years old.
Ayers and Obama served on a Board in Chicago in the 90's they didn't know each other that well.
Ayers was apologetic for his actions in the 60's and he moved on.
It's much ado about nothing.

11. Much ado for us, but for them it is the only straw left |
|
and in the hands of Palin, it is ignited.
But I think that most voters realize the absurdity of looking at something that happened 40 years ago when there are so many more important issues burning right now.

8. His case was dismissed in 74 due to prosecutorial misconduct. ALSO ... |
|
as the FULL PAGE in the NY TIMES last Fri made clear, he and Barack Obama were both part of a circle of progressives on various nonprofit organization's boards. They moved in the same circles. The whole thing is bunk -- much moreso even than the Wright flap. Where there's the smoke of protestation, there's fire -- the fire of agenda.
