McCain Releases Statement Signed By 100 Economists Denouncing Obama's Polices

10/7/2008 8:47 AM ET

(RTTNews) - The presidential campaign of Republican John McCain on Tuesday released a statement signed by 100 economists denouncing the economic policies of Democratic rival Barack Obama.

Among those signing the statement were five Nobel Prize winners, the McCain campaign noted, namely Gary Becker, James Buchanan, Robert Mundell, Edward Prescott, and Vernon Smith.

however . . . from the 'Economists for Obama' Blogspot: http://econ4obama.blogspot.com/2008/10/nber-for-obama.html

On October 2nd, 2008 The Economist released results of a survey taken by 683 economists at the National Bureau of Economic Research, the premier association of academic economists. 80% of economists surveyed believe Barack Obama is better equipped to handle the economy. 81% of economists surveyed also believe Obama will choose better economic advisers than John McCain.

The Economist magazine surveyed members of the prestigious National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and responders overwhelmingly think Obama far surpasses McCain in his grasp of economics and think Obama's plan is superior. (h/t to Freakonomics). These numbers are truly staggering! Sorry Marty! (former head of NBER and McCain supporter)

As with the Scott Adams poll, economists overwhelmingly choose to self-identify as Democrats and support Obama. This is no fluke and NBER is the cream of the crop.

(By the way, apparently the Economist is one of Palin's faves!)
